Briton Simone White has died after a suspected methanol poisoning thought to have killed four others in Laos, south-east Asia.
The lawyer from Orpington, south-east London, was among a number of people taken to hospital following the incident in the tourist town of Vang Vieng.
Earlier, Bianca Jones, 19 from Australia, was confirmed to have died while the US State Department said an American had died. Two Danish women aged 19 and 20 also died last week, Danish authorities said.
This is awful Bianca Jones 19, from Melbourne Australia has sadly passed away from this and her friend Holly Bowles is in a serious condition in hospital.
Details on the alcohol poisoning began trickling out about a week after the two Australian women fell ill on Nov. 13 following a night out drinking with a group in the remote town.
Yes - a free cocktail you are quite right @Tortoise
The spirits used allegedly were branded but the inference is that additional unbranded spirits were added to make them go a bit further.
Just awful.
A travel blogger has expressed her shock after six backpackers, including 28-year-old British lawyer Simone White, died from suspected methanol poisoning at a Laos hostel she had promoted.
The 6th victim, an American, was also named a couple of days ago - 57yo James Louis Hutson. The Danes were also named - Anne-Sofie Orkild Coyman, 20, and Frela Vennervald Sorensen, 21.
James Louis Hutson, 57, is one of the three latest people confirmed to have died in Laos following what is suspected - but not confirmed - to be a mass methanol poisoning
