Late Winter Storm Spells 'Atrocious' Commute For Millions

Millions of Americans faced a rough morning commute Wednesday as forecasters warned up to two inches of snow would be falling by dawn in some areas.

It completely missed us this time. Southeast part of the state got hammered. How did you guys fair?

Today was the first time our plant shut down early because of the weather - woohoo! We have over a foot right now and it's still coming down.

We had a jack-knifed tractor trailer disassemble our mailbox for us earlier and then a pick-up went onto its side across the street and then while that was being flipped back over by the tow truck another pick-up slid off the road while trying to avoid hitting the Sheriff's car. Needless to say it was an eventful day.

We went from 75 yesterday to minor snow tonight but it is cold.

Thinking of all our neighbors in northern New England and Canada. Mostly missed us in central Mass - some freezing rain and ice last night, and having a bit of snow now, and of course temps plummeted. Winter feels like its never going to end. Was just getting used to rain, mud and of course new and bigger potholes over the last two days (yesterday they had to close a road near my school due to about ten people getting flats in about a 15 minute period on pothole that i guess had suddenly enlarged. hoh:

Can it be summer already? Ill even skip spring!!

We got the predicted 5-6" in metro Detroit. Schools in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties were all closed. St. Clair and Sanilac counties along Lake Huron, too. When the snow ended, winds kicked up causing whiteouts, blowing, drifting. Some major roads were still in bad shape today, and our street that is a school bus route hasn't been plowed yet.

It's been sunny and warmer today, so there has been some melting, but there are still huge piles of snow in parking lots and along roadsides after plowing.
