"On Friday, the House of Commons voted 286-344 against the withdrawal agreement struck between Prime Minister Theresa May and the EU."
"U.K. lawmakers plan to hold a series of votes Monday in an attempt to find a new plan.

The Canadian government has issued a warning to Canadians in London over possible acts of violence during Brexit protests.

“Acts of violence could occur as well as confrontations between demonstrators and security forces. Avoid areas where demonstrations are taking place and nearby underground stations,” the government tweeted on Friday."

"In the advisory, officials warn of “acts of violence” and confrontations between demonstrators and security forces around the parliamentary buildings and near Westminster Abbey in London.

Canadians are urged to avoid areas where demonstrations take place and nearby subway stations.

The department continues to recommend Canadians visiting the United Kingdom exercise a “high degree of caution” due to the threat of terrorism".

My personal opinion (and that of the vast majority of my friends and family) is that I feel sick, sad and embarrassed. I really, really wish they could stop it happening, it's like an awful runaway train, gotta just shut my eyes and hope for the best.

I saw this which just about sums it up, except I'd say it's now 4am, we're still in the kebab shop and everyone's knackered.

To be fair to everyone the EU is/was never going to give the UK a good deal- because they can't. The union would quickly crumble if you could get out of it that easily.

It's a horrible feeling, isn't it? I just wish the politicians would stop being so pig headed and sort it out. They should have known a referendum was a bad idea after the whole Boaty McBoatface debacle

This is what I thought. The EU is determined to make this as painful as possible to discourage any other country from trying.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there! I think other countries were watching with interest hoping we might pave a way for them to follow suit but it's been nearly 3 years of... well.. just this really... uncertainty and arguing.

I think if countries want to leave, they would need to get other countries to go with them at the same time. That way they would have more bargaining power.
I have generally kept my mouth shut about the whole thing since its not my place to say. But initially i thought BREXIT might be a good thing. but now I think they should revote on it. vote to stay, then figure out something better. I just don't understand why the EU is so inflexible on some things. It seems like a lot of countries have complaints and greivences but the EU just seems to tell them to go to hell.

I've generally kept my mouth shut too, I am not a political animal and really don't know all the intricacies of what's happening. But it seems that even those who voted to leave (and I cast no aspersions, honestly, as a nation we were misled and coerced) are just as dismayed by how it's all panning out.

I went to Italy last summer and spent quite a lot of time apologising.

UK rail sabotage incidents believed to be tied to Brexit: police
April 2, 2019
LONDON -- British police said Tuesday that they are investigating two attempts to sabotage railway lines that are believed to be linked to Brexit.

The British Transport Police force said two “malicious obstructions” hit sections of rail line in central and eastern England on March 21 and 27.

In both cases, devices were attached to the tracks that were intended to disrupt services - though they failed.
