“First I am going to hurt her. Then I’ll make her leave,” Millard texted Noudga in April, two months before Laura disappeared. “I will remove her from our lives.”

He asked another friend to keep tabs on Laura. Then he sent a message to his mechanic. “Soon I’m gonna want you to put together a homemade incinerator.” By May 25, it was ready for a test run. From Smich to Millard, via text: “We gotta bring something with bones in it.”

Turns out the jerry-rigged thing allegedly didn’t work to their satisfaction. So Millard instructed his mechanic to buy a commercial version, paying $15,000 for it.

Laura's death was planned months in advance. From April to her death in early July 2012. I wonder which friend he asked to "keep tabs on Laura."

The Crown alleges Babcock disappeared on July 4, 2012. Her body has never been found.

On that day, Millard’s iPhone took a photo of a long, thin object wrapped in a blue tarp at his farm, west of Hamilton, Ont. It looks like it could be a human body. He then took delivery of a large incinerator, made for burning animal carcasses.

On July 7, Millard had a reminder in his iPhone: “Barn smell check,” Cameron said.

On July 23, when Millard had the incinerator operational, he texted Smich: “the BBQ is ready for meat.” Also on Millard’s phone, Cameron said, was a screen capture of an internet answer to the question: “What temperature is cremation done at?”

Other photos were also shown, all allegedly found on Millard’s phone. Two were of Smich at Millard’s airplane hangar, another of Smich in front of the incinerator, called The Eliminator. And one that appears to be the inside of the incinerator, blazing.

I am not suggesting that he knew what would happen but I believe that AM was friends with her prior to her meeting DM. I have a feeling that we will be seeing him again in this trial. There will likely be more questions to SS about convos surrounding the homemade incinerator.

Well we know his explanation is going to be either he bought the Ipad from her or MS took it in exchange for payment for the drugs he supplied her with.

MOO

Few pages to catch up but... I seem to remember Smich’s girlfriend testifying that DM was going to give her the ipad but Mark said he wanted it so he got it. I remember thinking she still sounded mad about it.

CN's sister studied in Poland also. I've been to Poland many times and they do have a good education program.

Perhaps. Would an ambitious person from Canada go to study there? I don't think so.

But you are right, I was too quick to form and express an opinion about the medical program in Posnan University. The only thing I know about Polish healthcare is that F. Chopin had tuberculosis.

It goes without saying we will hear from AM and SS for sure. Wouldn’t be surprised if AJ and JV are in the mix as well. I’d lump MH in there, too as far as DM’s circle.

I wonder if we’ll hear from BD, MM and ‘Bleach’ as part of Smich’s camp.

randomly, probably not. But her parents are Ukrainian. Ukraine and Poland have a lengthy/interconnected history and the culture there would be familiar to her. It makes total sense that after the mess she got herself involved with here, she'd want to get out of the country for a few years and all things considered, Poland isn't a particularly weird choice for her.

I attended a number of the pre-trial motions, and also the morning today. Millard and his tactics leave me feeling ill. Just MO.

What courtroom is the trial being held in? I was at the courthouse today before lunch but didn't know where to go.

Caryn Lieberman‏ @caryn_lieberman
Friend of Laura Babcock now testifying.

Cristina Tenaglia‏ @cristina_CP24
Now- another Crown witness.
Nicole MacLeod...age 28.
Laura Babcock's friend from Richview Collegiate in 2003...both were students there.

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews
Next witness is a high school friend of Laura #Babcock's. #Millard #Smich

How difficult it must be for Laura's parents to see Laura's friends age and "grow up". Who knows where Laura would be today had she not had the misfortune of encountering these disgusting individuals.

I wonder if her parents will be in court every day. I hope they have a good support system.

Just checked online and found this: A little lax i would say!

As a Canadian you do not need a visa to visit EU, Europe you get an automatic 3 month tourist visa so unless you are some wanted list no-one will know if you have a criminal record or not.

IMHO, this tells a tremendous amount about DM and his panache for premeditated murder. IIRC he researched the truck for a long time; maybe the test drives before TB were actually part of his planning process? I wouldn't be surprised to see that he started planning WM's murder shortly after LB's. If he had started planning for LB in April- murdered her 4 months later in July but not disposing of the body until the end of July...4 months later he murders WM and then has to deal with closing down the business, finishing up at the end of December- 4 months later, he had another one planned TB and then he was going to be headed to the Baja. IMHO, the only thing that stopped his need to kill was TB and the HWPD. Also, the fact that he texted CN that he was going to hurt LB makes me shutter. What did "hurt her" and "make her disappear" mean to CN?

OK so the friend DM asked to "keep tabs on" Laura was Andrew Michalski. I guess AM will be a witness in this trial too,

So much for the unwilling Smich, a victim of circumstances and a patsy. I'd like to offer a lifetime supply of iPads to Smich. Reminds me of that parrot they recently used to convict a woman of shooting her husband.
