Laura #Babcock told docs she scratched herself and would "purge" weekly. Smoked marijuana daily. "Fear of death since age of four."

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews now8 seconds ago
Even as a young child #Babcock was worried about death and dying, which caused her extreme panic and anxiety.

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews now40 seconds ago
Laura #Babcock would smash her head or scratch herself when especially anxious, and that gave her relief. Didn't feel her parents understood
Docs can't help properly if she only admits to the pot use... So sad.

Yes, he needs to discredit all these witnesses. Like the guy yesterday who in his police report said that he saw her on July 11 (I believe). Millard should have pushed harder on that. When did you realize it wasn't her? Did you change your statement only because it didn't fit the timeline? That claim was a big opening for Millard and I think he let it slide. I guess that they might have been easily able to confirm who it actually was (via the agency), so it might have been better to raise the question and let it go without fully answering the question.

I was there in person yesterday listening to this witness through his chief and cross examination. DM did ask all those questions. IMO, the witness had a very plausible reason for the confusion. When he knew LB he knew her as "Elle", not LB. She had blonde hair and was fairly skinny. The police showed him a picture of a brunette girl who was a much healthier weight and whose name was LB. He said he was newly single and dating at that point, sometimes 4 or 5 different women each week. He thought they were referring to someone else he had dated. Later in his police statement he said something to the effect of "wait a second, I think we are possibly talking about different people here", referring to the missing girl (LB) and the woman he had met at Hemingways.

Trust me, DM went on for almost over an hour about Hemingways and July 10th. He asked every question, in every possible way he could, sometimes multiple times.

IMO, this witness was just dating around and Laura is even a fairly common name, he probably got her legitimately confused with someone else he had dated around that time. (Keep in mind, his police statements were in May 2013, so almost a year later). He had met LB under a totally different name and totally different appearance. Misunderstandings happen and as soon as he realized that he had the wrong person in his memory at Hemingways, he contacted the police to let them know he was wrong.

This trial, a lot has been missed in tweets. DM went very, very into painful depth with this witness about his meetings with LB.

Interesting theory, however if she's never been found, wouldn't that mean he *did* know how to dispose of a body without an incinerator?

Yes, of course, but it was probably an awful process that enlightened him to the value of an incinerator to do the dirty work. However, it seems that the Fotheringham case was solved and it wasn't Millard, so I'll scrap that thought!

Laura #Babcock did tell health care workers she thought of suicide occasionally. Considered passive

Laura #Babcock's parents wanted her to do chores and get a job, she complained to health care workers.

Crown Jill Cameron continues to read the lengthy admission. It will be entered in full as an exhibit.

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews now47 seconds ago
Laura #Babcock needed constant reassurance from loved ones, because she felt "useless" and "worthless" she told health care workers.

Common themes: Babcock frequently thought about death, she's very afraid of death, she feels misunderstood, and feels no one loves her.

Justice Michael Code calls for lunch break. We're back at 2pm ET

Marcovitch cross examination will be after lunch. Back at 2pm. That will likely all for the day. #Babcock

Totally inappropriate, but makes me think of the awful way the guys in the first or second episode of Breaking Bad learned how NOT to dispose of a body...lol

The Crown is doing a good job of painting a picture of Laura and her struggles. The mental health information is beyond sad.

She was afraid of death. :tears:

These visits seemed to all be in 2011 though. Perhaps her drug use increased after these visits?

True. Maybe they weren't able to help her enough even back then so she turned to "self medication".

<modsnip>To someone who can barely get out of bed, these tasks can be monumental. The understanding of mental health this day and age still falls way too short.

It would be SO wild if MS testified and DM questioned him.

I'm sure it did.

Laura seemed to be right on the edge. She could have been a big liability for DM in his life. She was work. She was coming unglued and causing a rift between him and CN. He wanted the sex but nothing else. He was prepared to use her but wanted CN. Laura was one of many side pieces.

If Laura was pregnant, the first person to know would have been CN. She would have rubbed that in her face as quickly as she could. I do not believe Laura was pregnant. Everyone would have known. Laura told everybody everything.

Interesting that, at least in the tweets, there is no actual diagnosis for LB in any of those records.

Not to mention she and DM had apparently not been in contact for some time after the "birthday texts" I assume. And with her recent "career", which he was likely well aware of, how could she have seriously convinced him he was about to become a father?

I believe he had been planning this for some time. Since at least April.

It doesn't sound like she had a real psychiatrist. They talk about hospital visits. I'm wondering if she just kept going to Emerg. A lot of the comments are from nurses. I wonder which hospital she was going to.

Her symptoms would have been really magnified by the use of drugs.

Sigh.........

Well thats unfortunate we are missing so much.

It really is unfortunate. I read the tweets after getting home yesterday to compare to what I heard in person. That is when I realized so much was left out. It spurred me to want to go and spend more time in person seeing this trial from the gallery.

So would one of these escort service drivers perhaps be the sketchy guy that Trevors didn't want LB leaving with?

I believe at the beginning, it was said it was an agreed statement of fact from hospital visits. I don't know how these things work but I imagine it involved a referral for further help and not diagnosis on the spot.

Night_is_Mine, you are probably right he is fixated on the suitcase. He will have some piece of luggage similar to hers and say it was seen at the airport. an idiot.
