LE needs to check on Amy's storage site.

I know this thread is about Amy's storage site, but if LA said the key was a car key and Amy was okay with him destroying it - which is very odd to me (that would certainly not be my first reaction when finding someone's car key), then maybe she was okay with it because it was to her wrecked car and she did not need it anymore. This would mean KA would have access to AH's wrecked car that no one was paying any attention to. I don't know how this would fit in with the time line, or if we even know where her wrecked car was for sure, but it is definitely interesting.

Please feel free to move/delete this if it is in the wrong place or inappropriate. I'm new at this.

It is strange to destroy a car key. I still have miscellaneous keys that I have no clue what they open or start, and for some reason I just keep them in a tin.

I can't get over KC words to GA........."she's close dad, close"

This has always bothered me. I think there is more to this. Why would you throw it away. It should have been returned. I believe the key was for something else or it was code for something other than a key.

Yes, I wonder also if this was "CODE TALK"...............consider it done?????
who cares about a key when your daughter/neice is missing????

Pulling this over from another thread I posted it on.

Cell phone pings show KC being at the Anthony home the night of the 15th and most of the day on the 16th. She left the house around 4:18 pm on the 16th. I too think George is confusing the dates of the 9th and the 16th.
I believe KC was mixing chloroform at the Anthony home on the 16th, Caylee either drank it or inhaled the vapors and fell unconscious. KC freaked out and tried to call CA & GA etc. She couldn't reach anyone. I don't know if I think Caylee was still alive at 4:18pm when KC left the house but I'm thinking she was and KC put her sleeping body and the chloroform in the trunk, went to Tony's and hung out with Tony for the night while Caylee lay dying in the trunk of the car...out of sight out of mind.
The 17th she discovered Caylee dead, went to the Anthony home, thought about burying Caylee in the backyard (probably carried her body to the back yard)went to the neighbor's and borrowed a shovel then remembering the storage containers in the shed, used the shovel to open the shed. I think at first she considered the large storage container that was moved away from the pool per Cindy's interview but it was too big to fit in the trunk of her car.
I think she got a storage container from that shed, placed Caylee's body in it, then placed it in the trunk of her car. I believe she may have left the storage container holding Caylee's body in the trunk for several days. She had access to Tony's jeep so she could have just left her car parked for several days. I don't think that she disposed of Caylee's body. I think she stored it, in the storage container, in a rented self storage building. Rented under an assumed name and fake address of course. My best guess would be one of these three locations...

Vista Self Storage
6707 Narcoossee Rd, Orlando, FL - (407) 658-8544‎

Goldenrod Road self storage
3040 S Goldenrod Rd, Orlando, FL - (407) 823-7809

Surelock Self Storage‎
7628 Narcoossee Rd, Orlando, FL - (407) 207-3335‎

Another thought is the fact that Casey had Amy's keys and Amy has a storage unit. I remember in Lee's interview he said he destroyed a key...could it have been the key to the storage unit? I have even wondered if maybe there was a refrigerator or freezer in Amy's storage unit where she could have put Caylee's body.

Momtective,

The ping that they are searching is just off Narcoossee Rd. Lee Vista connects with it. I will have to google map this and see where these are.

This is very interesting.

Sorry for the off topic posts about Lee's testimony, but it was sorta connected. He says it was a car key, not a storage key. Does anyone know whether LE asked Amy for her storage unit key?

If I could delete the message above, I would ... I know that once or twice I've had the option to delete a message but have no idea how I got that option.

I just deleted one myself ,and all you do is select edit and you should see a screen that allows you to select either edit or delete. I think that is what I did.

Thanks! I see that now ... but interestingly ... that's not the screen I got the two times before ...

Everything old is new again.

Bumping to continue exploring Amy's storage unit.

Just my opinion, but just have to say that the key Lee took out of Casey's belongings could have been to Amy's storage room. Lee would have recognized the key being to a padlock - the kind that goes on a storage room door.
I keep a climate controled storage room for my mother's antique furniture. Most all of the padlocks on the doors there are the circular kind that the office at the storage place sells. Lee worked at a storage place.

I would like to know if Casey had Amy's key ring when Amy left for Puerto Rico. I also wonder if Amy's storage room would be climate controled.

She was driving the car though, so it would make sense that it was a car key. I don't know why Amy would give her a key to her storage unit or even a key to say her apartment. She didn't need access to those while Amy was in PR. jmho

Its in L.A.'s interview, it isn't really stated that it was a car key, it is only stated that he spoke with Amy and told her the "other key" was destroyed. I remember when I heard it that I thought it odd that he said "destroyed" rather than say, returned to her or thown out.

It's kind of hard to 'destroy' a metal key. What if he were talking about a 'key card' for gate access somewhere?

Yup! Excellent find! :) I'd posted this myself [paragraph below] on the "Hiding a Body" thread a couple weeks ago & do sincerely hope LE checked everyone who was moving!

.....given that everyone involved in her life was *moving* from place to place [including herself] & main areas we're dealing with are apt. complexes, people who are moving, etc... hmmmm.... a storage facility someone has access to?

I know, I never understood why LE didn't take the dogs around to ALL the roommates' AND their friends' and KC's other friends' homes, cars (including totaled and sold cars), storage units, any nearby dumpsters, grounds near their homes, any boats anyone has, etc. (And of course Fusion, dumpsters near there, dumpsters near any of the restaurants and stores KC frequented, etc). Instead of only interviewing a number of the friends and looking at phone records for a small number. Although that was good also of course. I hope LE did this but I've never heard anything to indicate they did.

Like you say, all the friends seem to have been moving and travelling so much. Still lots of unanswered questions for me.

Thanks for the thread, tttteri

He says he recognizes all this family's car keys and this was not one he recognized so he figured it was Amy's.

EE: I’ll tell you while we’re right here then I’m going to, that, that whole conversation I had listed as uh, note number eight. And the reason I’m doing this is for my transfer review later. I’d like to jump to uh, you said that Amy’s keys were also in there? Uh ….

LA: Uh-hum (affirmative).

EE: … or, or a set of keys?

LA: Just her, yeah (affirmative), her, her one car key, yes.

EE: That you recognize as the key that was probably to the car your sister was using while they ….

LA: Exactly.

EE: … were in Puerto Rico?

LA: It was a key that I had never seen before. I know all of our family’s car keys. So it just was easy for me to figure out that had to be Amy’s, Amy’s car key.

EE: And you called Amy and destroyed that key for her?

LA: The next, yeah (affirmative), the next day she reached out to me and said, “Hey, my key’s on her, probably on her key ring somewhere.” And I said, “I already, I’m one step ahead of you. (Laughs). I already got it. Consider it, consider it taken care of,” so.
…

I transcribed that from the document, so it may not be exact.

Lee Anthony says he destroyed a key that was Amy's car key. That does not mean it was a car key or even Amy's for that matter.

I still think it's odd that he destroyed the key.

It is very odd. Any key belonging to a young woman, obviously she would want the key back. I mean if someone's brother told me, no matter how nice he is, "don't worry about it, I took care of your key", or "I destroyed your key".....that's not enough, I would have to change my locks because how could I know where my key really wound up or who might get hold of it? Even if I hadn't already been stolen from by a member of this family. I would definitely find it weird if they told me that the key had been "destroyed", instead of just returning it to me. (Although you would no doubt change the locks anyway even if it was returned, but usually it would just be returned as a courtesy, because it's yours.) As folks have asked before, how does someone "destroy" a key anyway? Someone would do that rather than just return it?

May I suggest that we should accept that the key Lee dealt with could've been to EITHER to the car OR the storage unit. We can pursue both for now, without spending more time & energy debating it.

On the 'Amy's totalled car' thread AZLawyer pointed to some texts between Amy & Casey regarding Amy making 10 copies of a key. That was expanded to suggest Amy made these copies for her friends as she was routinely locking herself outta her car. The 10 copies text also occurred around the time Amy was planning to move in w/ Casey and was counting on help from the crew to move things outta storage. So...copies coulda been for either.

So, how 'bout we play out both options and see where they go...

a) storage unit here...
b) Totalled car here => http://websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72221&page=11

Just a thought. :)

I just cannot fathom LE not questioning AH on her totalled vehicle, how it left Apts, where it went, who has it now..etc..

In addition...I would imagine they have asked her about the storage unit, obtained a warrant to search it if necessary, performed decomp tests based on their physical inspection, etc...

Today is Wed...I keep hoping they'll drop alot of this info in a doc release because the pretrial is a sort of "coming to Jesus" meeting and the cat will be out of the bag...Once it reaches pretrial, especially if there's no plea in place, there's really no reason for LE to
hold their cards. Even if Bozo asks for a continuance, LE will have to release this for discovery, so I am expecting to be pouring over new discovery one evening with a cold beer(s)...

Oh, and what about the key that Lee said he threw out for Amy? Storage key????

I have had a few experiences with storage places in Orlando and the key to the lock has always been a strange looking round thing. Then we had a key to a door to get into the building and a pass code for the gate to get into the facility. Don't know if this is normal - but one key wouldn't get us anywhere.

I wonder if LA was asked about the key by LE. I'm going to go back and try to reread what he said about it.

I too have had storage units, where I provided my own keys and padlock, but at the storage facility, you have to have a key pad code to enter. I am going to look into these storage facilities but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing any information we might need. Is it possible some storage places might use a smart card? I am thinking the white card LE found in KC's wallet could have gone to a storage unit. It certainly seems reasonable to me that given the fact AH was between homes and KC was her best friend, KC would easily have had access to any storage belonging to AH.

Well, with the way Amy herself says she is with keys, she may have left her storage room key in the glove compartment of her car like she did with her checkbook.

I wouldn't think anyone would leave their checkbook in their car either, but Amy did!

I have a card to the gate of the storage place. It is just a card with a code I punch in and the gate opens.

I have not seen one that has a key card as hotel rooms do. Not saying there isn't, tho!
