Lead in lipstick?? NO recall

  • #21
I am more than happy to pay $10 to NOT have lead put in my body rather than pay $6 to have lead in my body. Same reason I try to buy only organic food as much as possible.. .sure it's more expenseive, and there are good reasons for that. But how is it a 'bargain' to buy food laced with cheimcal pesticides, preservatives, oher additives,, etc.. when you end up with cancer?? That's the most expensive thing of all!

Another example.... Should I buy the cheapo Made in China shovel at Home Depot? ..o,r the quality-craftsmanship Made in England shovel at the specialty local nursey store? Well, let's see.. you might use the cheap-o shovel 3 times before it bends and breaks. And then you have to buy another shovel anyway. Yeah,, that's a real 'bargain'.

I bought one of those shovels...handle broke the first time my son used it. Borrowed my neighbors...he's had his shovel 30 years. It really is up to us how we spend our money. I'll bet that 75% of the things in Walmart are from China. I don't shop there for much, I hate Walmart! I prefer supporting local mom & pop businesses. I'll buy a loaf of fresh baked bread from Gisela at her German bakery instead of Walmart, even if it's $ .85 more a loaf. We're talking real old fashion bread, no preservatives and artificial stuff. I don't need bread to last 2 weeks before getting moldy.

You're right reb...it's worth the little extra to get better/safer quality. It will catch up to us in the end when we don't.
Does anyone read labels like I do? The stuff that's in food is scary, mainly because I can't even pronounce them.

MAC emailed me back, but the end of the email states that this is confidential and I'm not to distribute or copy the email. That's weird.

Basically they told me that they absolutely do not use lead in their lipsticks, however, trace amounts of lead occur naturally in air, water, etc... and that their products are strictly monitored and tested and that any naturally occurring lead is so small that it is a non-issue.

They are owned by Estee Lauder corp. It was re-assuring, but did not address where the products are manufactured.

I don't trust the "standards" held by the cosmetics industry, so I guess we take our chances eh?

I THANKS; glad to know that at least. Didn't know they were owned by Estee Lauder. Gee last year it was the "bug pieces" in the dyes they were worried about.
