Her timeline does not add up .She claims she met Prince in 1976 ... The year he graduated high school,his first album didn't come out until 1978 and he wasn't even on tv until 1980, yet she claims he didn't introduce himself, but she said to him "aren't you Prince the Singer ?"
He wasn't even famous yet to be so recognizable.I also like the part where she says she didn't like him that much, but went with him because he was Prince the Singer .

I never stopped to think about how I’d react if Prince died, because I had literally never thought about it: with his omnipresence and talent for reinvention, he would surely always be there.

BIB That's how I felt. Even if I wasn't buying every album or trying to attend every concert, I knew Prince was in the world somewhere making music and doing his thing and that was how things were meant to be and it was strangely comforting to know. At some point in the future, like a prodigal daughter I would get back on the train and go and see him in concert again. So I have been totally broad-sided by it - and still to be honest there is a little voice inside saying "It's okay - he can't really be dead because a Prince-free world simply isn't acceptable it is just totally wrong".

This is a lovely story from later in the article - another demonstration of what a class act he was in every way:

My cousin, the singer/songwriter Krista Polvere, shared a beautiful story about meeting Prince in a nightclub in the 90s. “I told him I was only 16 – looking older than my years undoubtedly, made up and all – and he took on a very concerned demeanour,” she writes. “This is where he showed his character as a man and since then I’ve always been such an admirer. Prince requested that his limo service drive us girls home safely [but] I explained it was a fair way. He wasn’t concerned and said he would wait in the club for the driver to get back.”

Interesting. On April 21 the dr told LE that he worked at the medical facility. When contacted for comment, the facility said he no longer works there. Sounds like he got sacked since Prince's death.

"Schulenberg, whose LinkedIn profile page has now been removed from public view, no longer works for the North Memorial Healthcare system, where he was a family health care provider, said Lesa Bader, a system spokeswoman."

I hope something is released this week regarding his cause of death. Although the DEA stepping in also makes me think this will become a long drawn-out ordeal. Can anyone explain how the DEA could "help" with the investigation? It just sounds like they're adding more bureaucrats into the equation, but maybe it's because of the interstate components (Kornfelds) of the investigation that requires DEA involvement.

I don't know why I can't stop wondering about it.

The more I read, the more I realize what a very unusual life Prince had. I can't imagine the emotional strain/burden of having to maintain the image of "superlativity" and the enigmatic imperative that he had cultivated. He lived, "worked" and slept inside a huge building, with no line of demarcation between day and night, work and "the rest of life" and was surrounded by a clandestine cache of peeps who were banished if they broke a rule. It just sounds creepy and lonely. It sounds like he was a secret cyber stalker, looking for people for whom he could contact (in a secret, mysterious way) to make his protégées (e.g., that photographer who he found via You Tube) or trying to catch people bootlegging his art. I'd imagine it would be difficult to maintain a persona of such a super secret, enigmatic, mysterious, untouchable, unknowable, musically-above-all-others man.

It it would be fascinating to get a look into his true daily life and the realities of his existence. I can't help but think so much of his life was a show just to maintain an image.

I'm not dissing him, to each his own! I just think his life must have been bizarre. I hope he had some happiness.

Bbm: good Q -- Resources, ability to search and cross reference is my guess... And yes, access to "across state lines". Believe CA doc & rehab, timeline, initiated warant for their help. -Need to rule out foul play, first?

I doubt we'll know about Prince's inner life unless he journaled, or maybe someday a glimpse into the beginnings of his memoir draft?

These are still the mysteries and may always be in the vault of the unknown and unreleased - at least in our lifetime...

Musicians, colleagues, friends, & Minnesota stories will come down the road which I am sure will memorialize him and give more of an inner portrait of his life 'that seemed fine to the giant media machine' until the unthinkable happened a week before and up to his death.

In that regard Prince kind of kept the rabbit in the hat and I have to say, I admire him for it.

All thoughts of saving him are hindsight - but I'd sure like to see foul play, medical or otherwise ruled out absolutely. - Imo

I'm quoting myself for this mea culpa. I shouldn't have speculated that this Dr was fired. I don't know anything about the circumstances, and there could be many reasons he no longer works there. I would not want to be him right now with so many looking for someone to blame. If I could delete the post, I would.

Bbm: that was my first thought too. -imagine the health center is inundated by the press and this dr. has five kids. Press is banging on his door, and the neighborhood to get that "exclusive ". And now, there is a world spotlight on this dr. He wasn't authorized to administer suboxone nor is he an addiction specialist, so that might explain the coordination with another dr. But because of that I wonder if anyone else in the "family practice" was authorized? Also, if his prescription was for pain meds, was that the prescription that Prince had on his person? He may well be on leave of absence until investigation is complete- imo.

Imo - part of the tragedy here is that so many famous people can check into Hazelden or Betty Ford because they are so far away from Minnesota? Their anonimity is more protected because they are not on their Hollywood or NYC turf...

How soon do you think it would become major headlines that Prince was in rehab in his own home town or state? Was he willing or ready to deal with that press in addition to trying to get clean?

As I think about it, the "dance party" Saturday after the airplane crisis was perhaps a ruse for the press - to allow him to slip away quietly, and go to rehab, out of the limelight. --Really do believe Prince wanted to get clean. The subsequent doctor's son on the scene and visit nite before to another doctor just highlight the urgency... Imagine if he were an ordinary citizen, he could have checked himself into world class rehab locally and no one would know... But because he is Prince he knew TMZ and the like would be relentless... It makes me doubly sad to think that fame (and rabid press) might have impeded this man in seeking the help he needed with privacy and dignity.

ETA: there are many private locations all over the USA for these excellent rehabs and maybe Prince was finally willing to let go and look at the options. I wish he had considered European rehabs, too... Though he may have been too much like a homing pigeon for Minnesota in his mindset... I can relate...
