Leslie was abducted at gunpoint from Parkersburg, West Virginia by Mark Francis Hanna on July 30, 1983. They had dated each other, and had a troubled relationship, but Leslie was seeing another man at the time. Hanna visited Leslie at her new boyfriends home and told her he loved her, but she told him to stay out of her life. A few hours later, he came back and abducted her. It is believed that Hanna killed Leslie, but her body has never been found.
