Post-partum 'crap?'

Andrea Yates was mentally ill and this was loooooong documented before she killed her children. She had psychosis, which is a real illness. She actually thought she was saving her kids from the devil--she heard voices. This is not in dispute there were records going back years.

C'mon. Comparing Andrea Yates, who was and is truly ill to someone like a TMH is simply not fair! And a TEXAS JURY found her mentally ill...TEXAS--known to like the death penalty!

Let's not lump the folks who ARE truly mentally ill (like Yates) in with those who are simply evil (like Diane Downs and possibly TMH).

He called it "post-partum crap" as if it's not valid medically or legally, which it is. Not valid for someone like a TMH, obviously. But it's not 'crap;' there are women who are suffering with it and, in some cases, some women with histories of mental illness in which PPD turns to psychosis.

I'm not a bleeding heart liberal wanting to excuse everyone's bad behavior, but I *do* have deep compassion when someone is legitimately mentally ill because they can't help it and their actions that occur are tragic, but not what I call 'evil.'

It is so rare that only one in a thousand women with PPD end up with PPP. And between 10 to 20% of all new mothers get PPD. Imagine the odds to have PPP :waitasec:

I think if Terri is who she seems to be, she is not about to slip up and go back to the spot (if there is one.) She seems as though she is already "over" the whole thing. She wants some cash to get started on the next phase of her life. I don't get the feeling she is even worried about her future. Whatever her mental issues are, she is not acting as though she is in touch with reality, But that does not make her insane, just mentally unstable, IMO.

Just listening to the show and had to comment on the caller who mentioned TH's Facebook. The lady said she would be out looking for her stepchild as well as her biological child and not spending her time on Facebook. Isn't that the truth? I know I wouldn't want to tell my husband I lost his child! That would make me look harder for the poor kid. Strangers go out and search all the time for other people's children. Why wasn't Terri looking for her own stepchild?

Yes, flirting and "sexting" is just what a loving mother would do when her child is missing. She's a real piece of work. Does she know Casey and Misty (and Ronald)??? :croc:
