The victim was shot and killed in the course of an armed robbery after she struggled to keep her purse.
Though evidently a robbery motive and not a hate crime per se, Asian residents fear that hate could have been a compounding factor (Asian victims specifically sought out, pre disposition to escalate violence).
They also claim that the city is not doing enough to combat Oaklands rising crime rate, especially those crimes targetting Asians. @Kell1 , Oakland, however, has found time ban those terrible grocery bags.

- White Tesla seen waiting in the area for 45 minutes. Tesla has cycle rack add ons. Robbery / murder occurred as Tesla was driven along side victim's car.
The fact that the car was a Tesla could be vary valuable due to their recharging needs and hyper sophisticated "black boxes" and data links back to Tesla HQ.
Getting subjective....
A Tesla would not seem to be a likely car of choice for robbery / murder crews. Then factor in the trendy cycle rack add ons.
Could the Tesla be stolen (Heck, how does one even steal- and then recharge a Tesla?), or could it have been borrowed or loaned by the owner?
