Linda Drane-Burdick in action / 20th anniversary

ITA MM!! LDB and JA make a great team. Both have different styles that compliment each other. JA is the emotional one that brings to life what the evidence shows with heart pounding description-while LDB approaches the subject and the witness with a calm, determined, and no nonsense even tone that cuts like a knife to the target she is aiming for.
This trial will be riveting!! JB and crew made a huge mistake by delaying the trial-cause that just gives the SA more time to fine tune their case. Justice for Caylee is coming and I can't wait!!:woohoo:

I so agree and was very impressed with LDB's finesse yesterday.
Her voice and tone are clear as a bell, and she chooses her words so carefully.
She is one sharp woman and will have no problems at all driving home the truth and winning over a jury.
Nothing pretentious or whiny, so unlike the Barnum boys.

Thanks for starting this thread MM!!
Ms Drane Burdick is one CLASS ACT and she is smart as a whip!!!!!!!!
She does not let JB get to her, and just does her job in a very professional, impressive manner.
I hope there are extended family members in support of CAYLEE when the murder trial begins, and who will be there to show their appreciation to the prosecutors.

ITA ThinkTank - precisely!

She was brilliant - gently gently - CA fell right into every trap she set. A Master! I feel certain both she and Jeff Ashton will be astounding at trial.

:dance:I thought that this thread deserved to be bumped, after Linda's exquisite cross-exam of Cindy Anthony yesterday. Great performance throughout the hearing!

This is a harbinger of what the trial will be like next year. Unless Casey caves and tries a plea-bargain. I would suggest that is in her best interests. :)

Imagine, if you will, Linda's opening statements, using these phone calls followed by that first jail call home..... What a first impression of Casey Anthony that jury is going to get!!!!

No amount of " she's a Loving daughter, Loved her child" comments are going to erase the impression that Casey Anthony's own words will have.

She rocks, first class representation for Caylee. God bless LDB. There is no doubt she will do all in her power for justice.

Congratulations Linda on 20 years of being the voice for victims and their loved ones! I pray for strength, wisdom, and peace for you and the rest of SA team as you continue to work for justice for Caylee.

Thank you for your dedication to this often thank-less, soul-wrenching work (I can't imagine the things you must read and see to do your job).

I share in all the congrats. I personally know (through friends) the toll it takes on good prosecutors. The hours, the emotional strain, the personal sacrifices their families make. It is a very hard and thankless job and to stay with it for 20 years is beyond dedicated. KUDOS

With that said, I have been so impressed with the way the prosecutors have handled themselves in this case. Seeing the crack defense team go on 48 hours and blasting them and not being able to respond. It would be impossible to keep my mouth shut. Couldn't do it.

If these prosecutors would write a book after Casey is put away, I would think it would be a best seller. I think it would be fascinating to hear all the behind the scenes work that has been done and how they have felt about the defense bashing them whenever possible, the things none of us have been privvy to. I think we got a glimpse of how they felt during the last hearing when she stated that she was protecting "Caylee" not the family in the courtroom. LOVED IT!!!!!!

I remember that the press conference after the Scott Peterson trial was the best thing I ever heard from any prosecution. They never spoke during the whole ordeal until after. They totally rocked, in every way!

Today is LDB's 20th anniversary as a prosecutor. Thought she deserved props for that, and for being one of the most level-headed players in this case.
An LDB appreciation thread! :)

She won a conviction today in a rape trial (2 illegal immigrants kidnapped and raped a 12-year-old girl), and here is a little bit of footage of her in the courtroom doing her closing statement from that trial. A small precursor for Casey's trial.
MyFoxOrlando also had some footage on their 5 PM newscast, not up on their website yet.

About 1:20 into the vid:

.

I remember reading about this case in the newspaper. My heart broke for this poor little girl.

Linda is a terrific role model for my daughter......the daughter of a male attorney who wants to become a strong, intelligent female prosecutor herself! :) I congratulate her on 20 years of being the voice of the victim. She will fight for Caylee and will expose the lies and arrogance of the Anthony family once and for all. God Bless You Linda!!!

For some reason I think this case has touched her heart. No disrepect to the other victims she represented. I believe she fights for justice every time she steps into that court room. I just wouldn't be surprised if she had a photo of Caylee in her office.

LDB was perfect in every way. Watching her with Cindy, and listening to her words, I was well aware I was watching a master. I could hear Cindy breaking down gradually and knew LDB was the perfect one to do it. She was brilliant. She was methodical. Her words and questions were perfect. She brought Cindy back to that night with finesse. Such perfection! LDB brought tears to my eyes just watching her in action.

I'm so glad you brought this thread back up to the forefront, Muzikman. Finally, Cindy has met her match, and then some. LDB definitely dances rings around JB and that high profile CM.

:woohoo:

I am so impressed with her. I feel she is truly one of the best prosecutor's I have ever seen. I like her style. She is smart, articulate and very good at what she does. I'm so glad that she is on this case. Congratulations on winning your most recent case. I would hate to go up against her. She definitely knows what she is doing. Keep up the good work Linda. :thumb::)

Prosecutor LDB has long maintained a reputation of integrity, hard work and incredibly solid ethics. She does the profession proud and is a terrific role model for those interested in pursuing a legal career (especially young women!!). My hubby holds roughly the same job here (on the other side of country, different jurisdiction! :)) and has reviewed some of her past work. In a nutshell, he told me that LDB is a true victim's advocate. The victim(s) are always foremost on her mind. It is not "personal"....she is not a whiner....it is not about her needs or ego.....instead she is a straight shooter and she does not lose sight of those she fights for. She is known for succinctly getting to the "meat of the argument" and is not one to wander off on a tangent. She is confident in her knowledge and skill level----and does not feel the need (conscious or not) to use "ummm..." or "uhhhh...." to fill gaps in speaking. In other words, she considers her words carefully and really knows her case law (she does her homework!!!). God bless you, Ms. Drane-Burdick and thank you for giving Caylee a much-needed voice.

All JMO (or JMHO....just my hubby's opinion :))

Gotta give JA a big high five too. I love this guy!

First, let me thank all of YOU for your great, informative, insightful and inspiring posts in this case. This is the first case I've followed but I don't have the time to be helpful to others and I apologize because I'd really like to add my 2 :twocents: but I don't even know how to manipulate the smilies!!! let alone post with :twocents:!!! Anyway, LDB said, at the end of one of the hearings when they we talking, I believe, about setting a trial date, that she could put on her CIC in 1 1/2 hours. DOES ANYONE ELSE REMEMBER THIS? The reason I think this is important is that she MUST HAVE SOLID, IRREFUTABLE EVIDENCE TO PERSUADE A JURY OF CA's GUILT IN AN HOUR OR SO - right? Sorry that I took so much time but this is really bugging me and I'd love to know if this is reality or my faulty remembering. Again, thanks for giving so much to all of us. I, also, think LDB is a consummate professional and the best, and sometimes only, voice for Caylee in this case. Blessings, Gogranny

Can anyone tell me what CIC stands for? Tried to Google but can't find. TIA!

The law students following the case will have a truly exemplary example in her!!!
She is a outstanding lawyer!! Standing ovation. She could command high, high salaries in the private sector, yet she has devoted twenty years to serving the people. She is a hero for all the victims. I believe she will make an excellent judge should she ever wish it.

There is something noble about her demeanor, even when baited, she remains polite "I don't comment on my personal feelings in open court, " she responded to the judge asking her and Jose if there is some discomfort and distrust between the two sides. A lesser person would have given some snide remark, fully aware the little exchange would lead the evening news. Indeed she does not engage in any of the childish smirking and eye rolling that we see from her counterparts in this case.

She scores her points where it counts, forever, on the record with her thorough understanding of the facts and the law. I sure wouldn't wanna be on any team opposing her.

The state of Florida is very fortunate to have this dedicated professional leading the way. May all little girl's Barbie dolls come with a business suit in their clothes trunks.

CIC = Case in Chief

The meat and potatoes of the case, so to speak.

I cant believe I missed this thread before. I thought I was LDB's biggest fan too.

looooooooooove LDB.

Thanks for bumping this thread. She is a true professional, so calm, so to the point, smart, and just plain good. I am so glad Caylee has her on her side.

GO LINDA!

Friends, can you help me I wonder if I could ask a favor, please. Do you remember about 2 Hearings back or so when LDB shocked everyone with her statements/heavy innuendo that she believes, or is going with, Caylee's death being on the 15th, not the 16th? I was asked to find this, but it doesn't ring any bells. TIA
The Florida Bar summed up the problem regarding our Mr. Baez.
"His overall behavior, they wrote, showed "A total lack of respect for the rights of others and a total lack of respect for the legal system, which is absolutely inconsistent with the character and fitness qualities required of those seeking to be afforded the highest position of trust and confidence recognized by our system of law."

Part 2 of 3
Hearing May 10, 2010

State says June 15, 2008 (not June 16, 2008)

(5:47) LDB: .... before and after photos .... any photos occurring before JUNE 15th of 2008, we would agree to proffer those before we offer them, or attempted to offer them
into evidence ......

(7:15) ... as it relates to the after photos ... after June 15th, 2008, the State has constructed a very carefully developed timeline of Ms Anthony's whereabouts during the timeframe

(7:33) published in the indictment, from June 15th to July 16th......

they object to photos of Ms Anthony (7:54) where she is scantily clad ....

(14:08) Baez says ... photos before June 16th ....

(15:05) Baez says post June 16th photos ....
