Apparently she approached one of the decorators and told her that was one of her favorite shows and so the producers asked Lilo if she wanted to appear on the show. Well, it's complicated, so I will pass on this link:

Just hours after gushing over Lindsay Lohan’s home on Million Dollar Decorators we’ve heard a rumor that Bravo TV wants to repossess the $250,000 worth of furniture that was given to Lohan for the project.

According to Radar Online, producers and interior designers were so angry with Lohan for not appearing at the big reveal on her former Beverly Hills home, they “attempted to repossess the furniture and flooring that was gifted to her. Kathryn Ireland in particular was absolutely steamed and pissed off at Lindsay's antics as she devoted a lot of time to the project,” a source told the website.
