CRF Frozen Foods recalls frozen vegetables for potential listeria contamination

DETROIT - CRF Frozen Foods is voluntarily recalling 15 frozen vegetable items that have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

No illnesses have been reported to date, but the company is recalling the products as a precaution...

CRF Frozen Foods said Monday that it is expanding a voluntary recall to 358 products after seven people were hospitalized with Listeria.

The company had originally only recalled 15 frozen vegetable products on April 23. At the time, CRF said that no customers had reported illnesses related to those products...
