Local BAR says JB may have to step down

  • #21
I sure would like to hear more about this. Specifically, did the Bar decide this so that Casey couldn't file an appeal due to incompetent representation?

This is very interesting.

I'll try to watch the 6 pm newscast and see if there are "more details". A reporter also interviewed CA and she said she would be there for KC to make sure she can hug her because it could be a long time before she gets to hug her again (if she goes back to jail). CA sounded very resolved that KC was going back to jail.

because he is not qualified to handle a case of this magnitude. Sorry, no link, just reported on local Fox 35. More at 6 PM.
That just doesn't make sense. Since when does the bar decide what cases an atty. handles. Some thing else it up.:waitasec:

handler...... the thought makes me throw up in my mind!

I hope they give her a female attorney! That would be a twist aye?

Oh, that would be an interesting twist. If she would be anything like the da at the hearing last week, woo! Can't see Casey manipulating her, but I can see Casey objecting immediately.

Sorry to cause the nausea...btw.

Isn't this said in anticipation of the GJ, and the chance she could be indicted for a crime that is death-eligible? I'm not touting JB's general competence by any means, but I imagine it's his lack of DP case experience that's at issue. Under FLA rules, can he solve this by associating experienced counsel?

I agree with you Fay. The more likely explanation is that the bar suggested he get co-counsel if it turns into a death penalty case.

ROFLMFAO

I wonder what took them so long to determine this? He just tried another recent local case high profile as well. Lost, but hey he gotta cut his teeth somewhere!

Do you think she'll be given a PD? I think Baez will stay on the fraud case. I have never heard of a BAR doing that before.

I remember one night on NG, she was talking to the panel of attorney's and it was re: to if Baez knew anything about Caylee would he have to tell LE. The attorneys said "no" but would probably step down as lead attorney and get another attorney as lead

I think that would be a good idea.

As NG would say "RUH ROH!!!"

I cannot wait to watch her show tonight! TeeeHeee!!

I wonder if Baez will tape it for his collection? LOL

Well darn it, I guess all those hours he spent with KC were all for naught. LOL.

Thanks, I appreciate it.

I'm at work and on Central Standard Time (an hour behind FL time).

I didn't know the bar could just sling out a statement like that against one of their own?! Wow. So if they don't think you are worthy...they can trash you in the media while you are in the middle of defending a client? I guess I don't understand.

This station is covering ALOT of KC stuff tonight. If you can stream, you should!

If it's not one thing in this case, it's another. This is probably a good thing. Casey should get the best possible counsel so after she's convicted there's no chance of a successful appeal based on inadequate representation.

NO doubt in my mind, her BILL with Baez is out of control......wonder if she's stuck with a court appointed lawyer or the dilweed who bailed her out will have to come up with the dough!

Ahem......she could get her big mouth mother to represent her!:behindbar

Sure to be a NG Bombshell, if its true, lol. From the beginning, I felt that if Casey was indicted for murder, he would have to hire co-counsel with more experience. Never did I expect him to have to step down. This has me thinkin' that some senior members of the Florida Bar Association either were tipped off to his 'unprofessional' behavior, or actually got to see it for themselves.

Now, I've got a funny smirk on my face!

I wonder if the daily hours long lawyer visits had anything to do with it??

I hope they give her a female attorney! That would be a twist aye?

Yes. An older lawyer with 4 kids, a bunch of grandbabies and who is solidly heterosexual!

My thoughts exactly!

That is because he cannot enter evidence or statements that he KNOWS to be false. If he knew for a fact that Casey killed Caylee he would need to step aside, everything he knows would still be privileged, but he could not be effective defending her.
