I don't believe for one minute that Cindy wants to hug her daughter. I think they spend days apart because they can't stand being in the same house together. JMO

Maybe they are afraid that if she gets convicted with the incompetent JB, that they could get a new trial on the fact that she had insufficient council.

I would rather her get a new attorney than to see that happen.

No. Early on it was posted here that Casey knew her from school. Not that they were friends just knew each other.

WFTV just announced that JB has hired the other Lawyer that was with him in court on Friday as co-counsel. Casen or something like that.. He's from Ft. Lauderdale and was chosen Public Defender of the year...

Ok...not to be too rude...that guy looked kinda squirrelly. BTW- any word on how the judge ruled on the "right to travel" motion?

Nothing is up. In Florida you must qualify for death penalty cases. There are not that many.

I think that's true in most states that have the DP.

Nope. The indictment isn't expected till tomorrow or later...so she hasn't been charged yet.

Yes & it was working until the counsler, Mr Squirrel got ran over & stuck to KC's motor. JB said not to worry, he would set us up with ant eater team. We were so distraught to hear of the squirrels death that we thought he said "man eater team" & declined.

I'm not touting JB's general competence by any means, but I imagine it's his lack of DP case experience that's at issue. Under FLA rules, can he solve this by associating experienced counsel?

I agree, if the GJ brings an opinion of murder into this case, Casey will need a more experienced attorney in DP or murder cases. She has a right to be represented by counsel. And, I doubt if her family will want a court appointed attorney. Somehow they will find the funds to get her someone with more trail experience.

I don't see anything about KC at the link but this association is cited in the interview.

Florida must have changed because I distinctly remember that Ted Bundy defended himself.

Please note this story mentions the LOCAL Bar not The Florida Bar. The local bar is an association of local attorneys (like Orange County Bar Association or Seminole County Bar Association). The Florida Bar is the entity that governs the ethics of attorneys here in Florida. If The Florida Bar had stated the above it would be cause for concern. That the local bar theorized he's not got enough experience does not have the same weight. [Though I agree with them!]

I checked the Colonial High alumni's website again and didn't find Christina Baez, (I checked 1998 to 2006) I did find Kristina Chester (2005)and Jesus Ortiz(2004)
There were a few Baez last names, but no Christina...HMMMMMMM, she could have another given name and uses or is known as Christina.
I believe the 2 Christina's are getting mixed up, but I could be wrong of course.
