Long Island Victims with connections to rehab

If it's random people and a Rx written by a doctor who can verify he wrote it... who would think anything of it?

I work in Pharmaceuticals, and I can tell you the idea that MD's write scripts for "big money" for whatever the patient wants is way off base, and seldom happens. I hear about it happening rarely at best, and it's usually far, far away from where I'm located. That is unless it's an MD who doesn't have anything left to lose (nearing retirement, already being investigated by the DEA) it's simply a long shot. Though if Florida were in the discussion I wouldn't rule anything out whatsoever. Their laws are so lax down there it's insane. You can look more into that on your own. I just don't see it happening. Doctors simply have too much to lose by doing this. And as where once it was very rarely looked into, now the powers that be are constantly looking for this sort of activity, and sooner or later they zero in on suspicious Doctors. Too risky. If I were a Doctor, with a wife and a girlfriend, I would play it as straight as possible and constantly remind myself what a pain in the 🤬🤬🤬 Medical School was, and take my copay money from patients and be happy with that. No need to throw a career away for that nonsense.

I'll agree with you on the FL thing... you can get a Rx for anything as easily as you can find a McD's.

This doctor in question only has a "practice" out of his home. I don't believe this was about making money, I believe that may have been the incentive for the girls... maybe even, "You can make so much money doing this you won't have to sell yourself anymore." I believe it was just a means to an end... of getting the Rx drugs to take themselves (the doc and friends).

If they (doc & friends) weren't selling the Rx's later, how likely would it be for them to get caught?

I knew someone who knew someone who had sickle cell. He was getting rediculous amounts of vicoden prescribed to him monthly which he proceeded to sell. When he did in fact have pain he would go to the emergancy room and say vicoden wasn't helping. Since at that point he was in genuine pain the doctors would prescribe morphine or oxycontins. When his pain passed and he had left overs he would sell them. I don't think all doctors prescribing these meds are shady however they are conned. Most are trying to help. However some (a doctor once told me) get perks (vacations bonuses etc) for promoting certain drugs. I don't think either would be the case here. I think it might be so small scale as to meet the needs of a few without raising flags. This in response to Genericwhitemale.

Depends. But I think what they would be doing with the pills would be a moot point. The DEA keeps track of all narcotic fills. As for their inner workings, and at what point they open an official investigation, it's beyond me. I don't have those details. I will tell you this from experience. About 2 years ago I started to notice that a certain MD in the area was writing a TON of Benzodiazepine and C2 scripts. I know this Doctor too, as they used to work at the practice I have been going to for about 16 or 17 years. I didn't think they were shady per say, but I had a feeling once I started seeing the people the scripts were written for, and the quantities, that something was definitely up. Well as of about 2 months ago the DEA has officially opened up a case on this person and are more than likely going to pull their license very soon. And this MD wasn't even getting a kickback I know of. They were simply writing a TON of scripts for shady characters. That's all it takes. You can have good intentions and still get into hot water. Not everyone needs narcotics to solve their issues.

At this moment in time, any doctor on long island who respects his medical license is not even prescribing those things. A few years ago, my doctor would throw me some vicodins here and there for an injury, it wasnt a big deal....then you hear about these KIDS getting 1000 pills a month. Thats insane. 10 would last me 7 months.

I agree. If this is the case. I don't think it was done for big money on the part of the doctor. Maybe the girls were offered big money ( to them $1500.00 is big money) I think each participent had their own seperate agenda.

Separate agenda is exactly it!

JB: Rx drugs
MP: extra money
SG: extra money, possibly belief of the chance to get out of selling herself
CPH: a victim

Maybe this is the reason the girls were so trusting? They may have thought it wasn't going to be about sex, but about filling legitimate Rx's and profiting without selling themselves.

Maybe that is why the cell phone was left? If she was being told that it wasn't about sex, but that it was the Rx, she may have been more at ease.

I don't believe JB knew or cared to know about the girls after. He may have been under the impression that a different girl was needed to fill the Rx's so there wouldn't be any red flags.

The murder of these women, IMO, wasn't about them ratting out the Rx thing, but to fill the sick need of the LISK.

Exactly what I thinking. They might have felt more comfortable getting in someones car just to make a quick run to the pharmacy then they would otherwise. It certainly answers a lot of questions if indeed that's how it went down.
