One thing about Ms. LaViolette, we'll see if she sticks to her report regarding Jodi telling her the child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 was on Travis' computer. This to me will be a key piece of information. JM already asked Jodi if that is what she told Ms. LaViolette - which of course Jodi denied ever telling her that. For me, how this is addressed will give me an indication of how to view her. Right now, I can't have any opinion about her at all, I can only hope if she is true to her work, she will be professional on the stand with no agenda other than the truth.

ITA. If she tries to fudge the story on where the pictures were, I will lose any respect for her.

I read an article LaViolette wrote (that someone else posted earlier):

http://www.leadershipcouncil.org/docs/LaViolette_JCC.pdf

It's actually pretty scholarly with lots of supporting data. She admits that women can be abusers, although she tries to downplay it somewhat.

I tried to sit through her YouTube video about Snow White being a victim of domestic abuse. That talk is actually about the relationship between genders through the ages, and the evolving attitude/treament of women. Although I like history, I actually found it quite boring. I think the whole Snow White thing is just a hook to make the talk kind of "jazzy" and bring in the audience; I'm not reading too much into it.

She comes across as a whole different species than "Dr." Samuels. Like you, Raisincharlie, I'm hoping she'll be true to her profession. I don't have a problem with her discussing the reactions people have in abusive situations. If she tries to apply it to Jodi, that's where I'm going to have problems.

I mentioned this yesterday: "Dr." Samuels said on numerous occasions that as part of his "evaluation" he reviewed texts, emails, and a taped phone call between JA & TA. If all he saw was what the DT showed him, it's quite possible that he only saw what would fit the view that Travis was an abuser, not EVERY text, email, etc. On Thursday, when Wilmott showed him Travis' text messages, she very carefully cherry-picked the words and phrases she wanted to focus on. If they did the same with LaViolette, and JM points that out to her, she might have the opportunity to change her view on the stand. We can only hope. JMO

More of the 48 Hours interview with Maureen Maher - Sept. 2008

JA claims to have received two written threats on her life from the Ninjas in the California jail before she was extradicted to AZ! It gets crazier and crazier!

***Has this particular interview been released in it's entirety? Have searched for it, but still can't locate it.

This one? Or did you mean more of the footage that was never broadcast? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6DyoR1lffI

Day 35: pt 3
JW/Dr Sam

The more that JW tries to explain the problems with Dr Samuels, the more attention she is calling to them.

“ how do you assess someone who is lying to you?

By the consistency of the reporting…the diary, text messages, e-mails, reports from others…[ Aren’t these just more lies ? ]
Q: “ maybe she didn’t write negative stuff cuz there wasn’t anything?’

JW: did u use other ancillary things besides the journal to see if there was anything negative?

DS–:I did

JW; “ text messages—for example #444”

TA says “no not call me ,do not text me, either fess up or feel my wrath… “

JW; Is this not threatening behavior? Are thses comments hurtful and mean?

Here is another TEXT FIGHT. She reads more angry texts, and you can see Jodi doing her ‘victim’ face.

So she reads off this entire tirade of Travis’s, where he is obviously freaked out by her…AND THAT IS SUPPOSED TO HELP THE DEFENSE?

Here it is = she hoped he would CHANGE. I bet we hear a lot of tht from ALV next week. Jodi was hurt and shamed by mean Travis, but she never said anything negative because she hoped he would ‘change.’

This proves she has low self esteem and is not assertive according to the doctor. I wonder what ALV will say about low self esteem and non assertiveness? LOL

===================================================

HERE IS THE IMPOSSIBLE SITUATION THAT HAS BEEN CREATED FOR ALV.

On one hand, we have these journals and these anecdotes on 48 Hrs and these police interviews, where Jodi herself explains the wonderful and loving kindnesses expressed by Travis. We hear how he always reached out to generously help those in need, both strangers and friends, and he gave her a place to store her things and a place to stay when she was moving, and the lovely Cinnabon story, and the Cinderella story of the night they met, where he invited her to the Executive Ball and the night he treated her like a goddess with the candles and rose petals...etc etc.

And even though he gave into sin and temptation with Jodi, he had a highly motivated and successful demeanor, lots of friends and an active religious life.

We have to contrast this positive information with the 'dirt' that Jodi is attempting to muddy him up with. And it is really hard to believe much of it. For corroboration, they keep going back to the 'hurtful' stuff he wrote when he calls her a sociopath and tells her to get lost because she is ruining his life with her evilness. I don't think that helps her case that much.

It tends to make her look just as bad if not worse. And the ONLY other dirt we have on Travis comes from Jodi's lying mouth. That's it. Her 'word' that he looks at pix of lil boys.
And it is only her word that he 'choked her out.' And kicked her in the finger. Oh, and 'backhanded' her in the neck while they were driving. I think that is the extent of it, until that fateful day that he became a deadly ball of fury, and she had to slaughter him.

So we have all stories and this evidence and this corroboration of these kind hearted, generous actions of Travis throughout his life and NO one coming forward to say he broke their finger or choked them out. Except Jodi. And it is odd, because Jodi spent the last several years PROTECTING Travis's reputation. That is why she never reported his abuse or told anyone he was a pedophile, including his friends who had little kids. She did not even write about any of it in her journal, she was so protective of his good name. But I guess now she just decided to come clean and tell the world how evil he really was. :waitasec:

So ALV has quite the task. She has to convince the jury that the only person who knew the 'real' Travis was Jodi. He fooled all of the rest of the world for all those years. But Jodi is telling the truth now, no more alternate realities for her. Is ALV going to try and sell that story to the jury?

I must admit that when I heard court was canceled because someone upchucked, I had a flashback to a spinning head spewing green stuff everywhere ala the Exorcist.

What bothered me the most was it gave "Bigger Gus" a chance to see and go over all the questions from the juors. I wanted him to be caught off guard with them, and not have a chance to think of what he was going to say when they were asked.

  • #288
JMO - I think the DV specialist better have some data that demonstrates how 1000 miles of distance between people does not matter even for low self esteem, non assertive witches.

And how this helpless, nonassertive person packed up post-breakup and moved 1000 miles without first securing a job and housing. I don't remember testimony, even from the lying liar, that Travis tried to find either for her.

Is the DV expert the last witness set to testify in the defense case?

I believe so, although I can't say absolutely for sure. When Samuels finished his first day of testimony, the judge announced that there would be no court held the next Thursday (later changed, since they did meet). She said the "last witness is unavailable that day." So I'm assuming, yes the DV expert is the last.

Can't wait ! :rocker:

Doc Samuels was pretty adamant to get his copy back.

Maybe this is the Protective Order?

Haven't read much I'm traveling, who had a protective order?

If her 'testes' are as 'phoney' as Richard Samuels', her testiphoney may inspire me to write a rebuttal to ALV's book, It Could Happen to Anyone: Why Battered Women Stay

Mine will be called It Happened In June: The Lying Torture-Murderess Who Returned To Kill Her Ex.

Thanks, Allyne. Just realized this footage was never broadcast. The episode I can't find is the one where she talks about 'smiling - and saying cheese'. Perhaps that was also part of this interview but was never broadcast. I thought there were two 48 Hours interviews, but could be there was only one. I'm confused....

I read somewhere that the Protective Order was to keep the Defense Billing Statements under seal. So we can't see what they are getting paid

Re: The "breaking news" about the Cancun trip that was discussed on JVM last night.

I haven't caught up on posts from last night and this morning, but I'm sure that some of you saw JVM and heard the new details about the Cancun trip. If true, I wonder why we haven't heard about this previously? Of course, I know that Jodi's lying when she said that she wasn't jealous of Travis taking another woman to Cancun, but if she was originally invited and then told that she wasn't going on the trip, that certainly plays into motive for the murder.

The single most infuriating thing "Dr." Samuels did IMO is to say that pedophiles are good at covering up, with assistance from their families, and that it shouldn't be surprising that nobody was aware of this alleged part of Travis. He seemed to me to be acting as if it was a foregone conclusion that of course Travis was a pedophile. It was a sort of throw-away line and I think it's too late now for JM to question him about it. I agree that ALV has some hard work ahead of her.

Why keep it public? or will it be released after trial?

Someone on earlier thread mentioned that there are renewed media requests for their billing info.

I'm guessing here but I imagine because of backlash to Doc Samuels' $250 /hour for obviously "bought" testimony, the DT doesn't want it known that Nurmi alone is making $225/ hour of tax payer $ as her "public defender". Maybe there are some things they've paid for they don't want out? Speculation on my part.

Also Samuels specified on the stand he made $250/hr at the beginning of the case I wonder if that increased to a higher fee for testifying? Again , speculating like the good doc :)

there are reports that the defense tab is nearing $1 000 000

from ABC 15
http://www.businessinsider.com/how-much-will-jodi-arias-defense-cost-2013-3

"A communications director for Maricopa County, Ariz., where Arias is being tried, told ABC 15 Arias' defense team has already cost $838,000 and that expenses continue to grow.

IMHO, even with everything she has said, most of the abuse she is claiming came AFTER they broke up. TA was in a situation he was never in before. Sure maybe they could stay friends, but for a person like JA, the sex was the controlling factor for her. No one else was doing it, she was the winner. When I read TA blog dated May 18, wow. He was realizing that he was doing the wrong things, wanted to change and wanted to be married and have a family.

TA probably did not realize until too late. Like his sister Samantha said JA was like a drug to him. He just kept going back. TA was probably backed in a corner and didn't know how to get out. I mean who thinks that you will break up with a person you are dating living in another state will decide to move to your city in another state to be FRIENDS. Like Samuels said, the only traumatic event was when TA decided JA wasn't going to be in his life forever and JA couldn't handle it. No way was he going to be the one who got away. Even DB, probably doesn't know how great it was that she dumped him first. Literally.

I understood her to be the last scheduled defense witness, but I've never seen the actual witness list myself.

If we had a current list, we could obviously check off each witness and determine by process of elimination whether she is likely to be last. There are often peeps on the lists whom are never called, but it's unlikely they'd want the jury to have anyone else on their minds when deliberations begin than the one whose job it is to make JA nothing but a helpless, hapless victim whom TA practically ordered to murder him.

Just a guess on my part, but I think they were trying to prevent people (media, most likely) from finding out how much "Dr." Samuels is being paid, since he's being paid by the State as well.

Thanks for posting this very interesting article

And itÂ’s an indicator of which way public opinion leans that the defense attorneys are escorted out of the court by a burly sheriffÂ’s deputy:what:
