I don't know if this article has been posted but I read it before work this morning and liked how the writer ripped in to RS. Right out of the gate "In the Jodi Arias trial, the so-called ‘expert witness’, Dr. Richard Samuels...." it starts and gets better as he goes. Well done Mr Mountjoy.

This:
An Arizona Department of Correction website tells us the average cost to keep Arias in prison is currently $22,650.00 annually and she is only 37 years of age.

One error, but I'm not complaining she does look 37!

A bunch of people have linked to an article on the blog of Kristina Randle (I'm assuming that's her name). I wanted to provide a snippet I thought was interesting:

Another major error committed by Dr. Samuels, is his linking dissociative amnesia with the physical inability to form memories, during periods of severe stress, in the hippocampus region. The first problem here, is that science does not accept this “hippocampus theory” as being factually proven. It would be much fairer to say, that science sees this as a theory, one theory among many others, that may or might help to explain memory encoding. Remember this theory, as expertly explained by Dr. Samuels, says that you cannot physically remember events during traumatic periods, because the hippocampus is flooded with hormones and is incapable of encoding memories.

Now the problem with this, is that some people do remember events during traumatic times. They have excellent recall, perhaps even enhanced recall when compared to non-stressful times. As I stated before in other writings, Dr. Samuels clearly states that it is impossible to remember during these traumatic periods. Well we know he is wrong. It must be possible to remember… because people do remember.

Another problem that Dr. Samuels has, when he links dissociative amnesia with the hippocampus theory, is that they simply do not belong together. The “hippocampus theory” deals with physical amnesia. The dissociative amnesia theory, deals with psychological amnesia.

Dr. Samuels diagnosed Jodi Arias as having dissociative amnesia because of the stress that made the hippocampus unable to encode memory. He also clearly stated over and over again that you cannot remember what has not been encoded. “You can’t remember what’s not there.”

While once again the big problem here is that people with dissociative amnesia often do regain their memories. Logically speaking this must prove that memories had indeed been encoded by the hippocampus and encoded during a time of stress.

I think you are ignoring the photo and forensic evidence, though. The biggest pile of blood is at the threshold of the carpet leading to the bedroom, indicating he spent the most time here and that the most significant injuries occurred there (throat slash, which instantly killed him). We see in the photo he is lying on his back already meaning he was incapacitated. He was not crawling after that. Remember, Jodi tried to clean the crime scene, meaning the most easily cleanable surfaces, which is the tile.

HLN already demonstrated that a woman Jodi's size could easily drag a man Travis' size from that hall to the shower, and there wasn't even any water or blood in that scenario. She admits to being the one who must have dragged him.

She dragged him, and cleaned him.
On HLN they showed her pulling him from the arms. I have always imagined that if he was crawling away from the bathroom that she would simply pull him back from the legs. (Easier imo.) Wouldn't she just flip him onto his back and pull him back by the legs with his legs nearest to the bathroom? Why are they doing it the other way around?

(Horrible to write that all out - please forgive.)

Have her parents ever been asked about her stay in Costa Rico? Was this a school sponsored exchange? IIRC remember that Jodi said his parents were trying to hide him from her? after she'd been there a few weeks?

I can't answer your question, sorry. I have wondered about this as well. Knowing what we now know about JA's teenage years and her disrespect towards rules, etc., I've considered that her maybe her parents needed a break and were thrilled with her trip abroad.

Watching "Blue Eyed Butcher" on Lifetime. WOW, her story is the same as JA's...can't remember killing him, didn't call 911, battered wife syndrome, etc. The movie came out in 2012.....if it had been earlier (before Travis was killed), I would have thought JA was copying the movie.

This was not just a movie...this really happened. Wright's case was huge in the media... the similarities are profound. But not from a movie. From real life. This happened 10 years ago. Moo.

I've never heard, or seen, an abuser go lethally abusive over a camera being dropped but be perfectly okey-dokey with ruining a BMW. ;)

Just sayin'.

Google Directions advises that the drive time from Mesa to the Hoover Dam by Route 93 (most direct) is four hours and thirty-four minutes.

The first cell phone ping on the evening of June 4th was 11:37 PM, twenty-seven miles south of the Nevada border, and the final photo was timed at 17:33:32. Subtracting the drive time, she had a good hour and a half spare. It would take mere minutes to wash the body in the shower, delete pictures and stuff the camera and towels in the washer, clean herself as necessary and be on the road.

I believe there was ample time for her to select a spot en route to dispose of the gun, knife, car mats and any other evidence somewhere along Route 93 under cover of darkness - well before the Hoover Dam checkpoint. Google Street View shows the road to be perfectly desolate.
I was looking at the route from Mesa up to the check point. Found a strange place just east of Flagstaff then realised it looks like a munitions storage facility. How ironic if she lobbed it out of the car in that area.

I'm watching the end of a 48 Hours special on Michael Oaks -found guilty of murder. He had claimed self-defense.

In interviewing the jury afterwards, one lady said, "I really wondered...if it was really self defense, why didn't he call 911?" Can we only hope Jodi's jury thinks the same.

BTW, the jury's first vote in the deliberations was unanimous for guilt.

Hope we see the same result.

Indeed, my fave was 3-8 people out of 100,000 is 3-8%, :slap:
It was one of the juror questions so someone on the jury gets the numbers and is careful with detail.

Interesting observation to begin his piece:

Exactly! And someone who is prone to outbursts of violence would have killed her after she ruined the BMW. Instead, one of Travis' friends said he was rather calm about the whole thing.

Sound familiar?

Among the witnesses not called in the 2004 trial was psychologist Jerome Brown, who interviewed Wright days after the killing. Brown diagnosed Wright with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, and told jurors last week she was in a "dissociative state" while attempting an elaborate cleanup after the killing.

There is a Victor Arias that is a photographer....

not saying these are the one Jodi spoke about, there are several others.

"Victor Arias" is a supposed ex-boyfriend she met in Costa Rica. She testified she was part of a Foreign Exchange program while in her teens. I've been unable to find that part of her testimony., but I'm still looking.

"I was shaking" when she read that first "threatening note". Also, catch how she wanted to talk about how notes are passed in the jail rather than answering the actual question. Liar.

Jodi is being clever and telling her exes to keep their mouths shut. Wonder if she is also telling them there are 2 notes via magazines coming their way...MM? When did that mess all go down?

Anyone getting some lovely snow? We need the moisture, but I want spring!

I think she was probably dragging him by his feet too. His head was facing the bedroom. Why would she go to the trouble of turning him around? I think his position in the shower supports him being dragged by the feet. People say that one photo is a dragging photo. I think that is the killing in progress.

From the new information about the Cancun trip that has surfaced, purportedly there are tickets reflecting change of companion made in April, 2008. If these tickets do exist, they would be more probative than prejudicial. We know they would be relevant because Martinez has alleged Arias was jealous because another woman was going to accompany Travis. The tickets go to the issue of expectations of Arias. She had relied on the plan to take her. Now she was displaced. We were told she was more depressed than any time in her life when she upped stakes and left for Yreka in April. She has provided other reasons for her despair. I'm going to search our threads on that topic but I remember some of her reasons and they may be hollow.

Tuba, I'm always in awe of your gift of insight. :blushing: I don't believe Jodi has the capacity to feel depressed or despair in the format others do and am interested in your thoughts about Jodi.:heartluv:
