Man blows a fuse in lights competition
JENSEN BEACH -- A friendly Christmas lights competition at Parkside Apartments turned nasty Monday when one of the also-rans "became enraged" at his loss and pulled several lights from the winner's display, according to Martin County sheriff's reports.
Light-contest winner Donna Simmons-Groover told deputies a neighbor who thought he should have won ripped out some of her lights and unplugged two extension cords.
She said a witness told her the neighbor also tore down his own display "in a rage" and threw the decorations in a heap in a common area behind the apartment building.
