Watching the video is compelling.. But leaving Patsy out as participating is an error.

80% certain it was her handwriting. I don't think it is his.

My personal belief is that either the brother or John accidentally killed JonBonet and Patsy helped cover it up because she had a lot to lose if John went to jail and lost his job.

I believe they took a couple hours and tired to cover up their crime with broken window (below grade where it wouldn't have been heard by a neighbor that early morning), strangulate to hide the fact that she had been hit in the head, placed the suitcase in the wrong orientation and Patsy wrote the ransom note after multiple tries and edits.

But what do I know and it's probably too late to prove anything at all.

The window was broken many months earlier.

Was anyone in the family CLOSE to being charged by LE? I was thinking I saw somewhere that a Grand Jury was brought together but they did not indict.

Is that correct?

Also, I can't remember what mistakes the Boulder Police Dept made in the investigation that hurt the case. What were they?

A Grand Jury convened for 13 months. After hearing all testimony and reviewing some 30,000 pieces if evidence, indicted both John and Patsy Ramsey for knowingly placing a minor child in danger leading to her death, and then covering for the dangerous third party. The DA, Alex Hunter, decided not to prosecute.

The facts point to an intruder. Burke was in his own house, with no reason to put on boots to go into the basement. An intruder, especially one coming in through the basement window, would have every reason to wear boots and keep them on. I mention size, because the boot print was an adult size, and Burke was not an adult and did not have large enough feet. They also tested all the shoes in the house, and found no match.
The facts actually do not point to an intruder. The basement was cold. Additionally, the wine cellar was cold and damp, with a nasty floor that was growing mold, and was not carpeted like other areas. It actually does make sense for someone to put on boots if that's where they were headed. The footprint was a partial, it was only the part of the sole called the "poon", which is usually in the middle and shows the logo. I don't believe they were able to determine size or adult vs. youngster, as the print was only that middle area. And since that brand is overwhelmingling popular with police, first responders, etc., all of whom were in the R home that day, they did due diligence and tested everyone. Since BR lived in the house and had hi-tec boots and could've made that footprint at any time prior to that night, it is not unreasonable to conclude that it may very well have been his and had nothing to do with what happened that night.

If you have seen the video that Lou made of him entering through the basement window, his entire body takes up the whole of the window. Anyone adult male entering would have dragged leaves, spider web and what ever other debris was there with them, yet there was none found in that interior area. The spider web was intact, part of it was attached to the grid that had to be lifted to get into the well which is where the window was. When the grid was lifted, the spider web detached at the 10 inch mark. Further, they investigated what kind of spider made that web and found that the species identified would have been hibernating and dormant during the cold winter months. So no way the spider re-weaved the web after it was disturbed and broken. No one came through that window that night, if ever.
