Sorry, but as his first grade girlfriend & friend of over 60 years, this is crazy. Lenny (his brother) is a lawyer. If he thought for one second D's (Richard's nickname) health was compromised in ANY way, he'd be on the first plane to L.A. And D really does like his sis-in-law. This is trash. I'm not a guy, despite the Tony!
And anyway, D knows more voodoo than she does.

Hi Tony! Voodoo aside, do you remember, as I do, Richard's personalized license plate back in the late 70s/early 80s? His car at the time was similar to my own. I puzzled over the meaning of the plate until I discovered who owned the vehicle.

Happy memories, from back then. And at Ruffage, I was so hoping he wouldn't tag me for not sitting-up straight at the table, ha! He didn't.

This man had some serious power and charisma, from an early age. I find his current status odd at best, considering his public presence for decades, but I do not judge. That said, I remain curious. To add, I'm reclusive as well, but I was never a public personality.

He has that charisma in kindergarten. The nuns adored him, he had lovely parents & his father was an amazing cook. Always the life of the party. I don't remember the license plate tho, we lost touch after he left Italy. I only saw his Mom & Lenny at his dad's funeral.

Seems fishy to me, but I think he is just getting older and does not want to be in the spotlight anymore. I would think it is fairly common with celebrities who are no longer the bright, beautiful stars they once were. I have always thought that is the worst thing about being a celebrity.

He looks almost too thin and sickly here. He might be facing declining health and does not want to deteriorate in the public eye, maybe?

On one hand I can definitely see how things seem suspicious, but on the other, law enforcement and his family don't seem to think there is a problem.

I hope his life is still filled with joy. I always had a soft spot for Richard Simmons, many happy memories doing his workouts with my grandmother as a child. My friend and I even had a Richard Simmons themed co-birthday party when we turned 18

In the photo posted for Sunday, Richard looks very frail, like he has lost his muscle tone.

His left eye is semi closed while the right eye is open correctly.

If you zoom in on either arm, you will see patches of red skin. It does not look like a rash or sunburn. Not being in the medical field, I cannot tell what it is.

Richard looks like he has reached that point in life where age decides what you look like. Bless his heart that he is not off getting all the cosmetic fixes. He is accepting it with grace.

If he has an illness, then he has a right to not announce it to the world. With all the jumping around and exercise he did, his ankles, knees, and legs may keep him in terrible pain.

Age is going to hit each one of us. Let Richard know how wonderful he is, what he means to you, and how helpful he has been to you if you are one of his fans. Every one of us can use cheery upbeat notes. I am sure he can too.

I love Richard Simmons. He's such a great guy. I love to exercise, so I joined his web forum for a few months a couple of years ago. He hosts hour-long chats every Monday evening. He also mailed me an autographed photo in 2013. Anyway, his beloved dalmation, Hattie, died and he had a nasty knee injury happen around the same time. I remember him telling us in the chat that he needed surgery on his knee, but he was afraid. To be honest, I think he's still very depressed. I really don't think there's more to the story than that.

Bizarre behaviour might be a stroke, brain tumour, or it might be an untreated mental illness. Maybe dementia?

There's a huge list here and I'm just guessing based on personal experience. Who knows.

Honestly, I've been reading this for some minutes and nothing seems to make sense?

Was he being kept inside/controlled? What's the deal with the reposted pictures? Bizarre behaviour?

First thing that comes to mind is a mental illness (dementia? Alzheimer's? Schizophrenia?) that his people want to keep hidden, even if that means he won't get the help he truly needs.

I hope I'm wrong and I have no knowledge to back this up, it's really just what I could think about this really strange sequence of events.

I'm not sure I do either but he was released fairly quickly. That matches up with dehydration but not so much with some of the other possibilities.

Dehydration frequently strikes people more easily and causes more severe effects if there is some underlying disease or a mental condition. Diabetes, people with dementia forgetting to drink, that sort of thing. So I think it could be both dehydration, and not the whole story at the same time.
