SHAWNEE, Okla. – Somewhere out there, shielded by the thick, wind-whipped brush, is Shayla Menhusen’s missing pet.

“It’s like finding a small toddler,” Menhusen said. “It’s like a needle in a haystack. We are walking, hoping we can spook her up, find her or hear her.”
This is not your ordinary cat or dog; the family is looking for their runaway kangaroo, “Lucy Sparkles.”

She disappeared Thanksgiving day amid the frenzy of holiday guests.
The family is desperate to retrieve their runaway roo.

pictures at link ... she looks like a kangaroo

Missing kangaroo posted by Ransom? :floorlaugh:
I'm reminded of a Sylvestor cartoon.
Anyway.....they're bad ass at self defense. As long as she finds food and water she should be OK.

Well...

She loves cheetos and IF you have a burlap sack, she'll hop into it. TaDa.

On full BOLO here. True, it's 180 miles between, but if the dog starts barking at something in the back yard today I'm paying closer attention. Hope they find her soon - in the 20s overnight last night and will be tonight, too, cold for a 'roo I'd think. Or for anyone.

How do kangaroos adapt in the winter?

Answer:.Kangaroos do not inhabit the high country or snowy areas of Australia in winter. They stay in the lowlands and shelter in caves and under overhanging cliffs. Some types of wallabies inhabit the high country, but these are the stockier, more muscular variety (like wallaroos), with thicker, more insulating fur.
In southern areas such as Victoria and Tasmania, the kangaroos are already well adapted to the cold winters, developing a thicker coat through the winter months.
