Luis and Mariel were last seen at home on September 11, 2011 at approximately 10:00 p.m. Their mother was found stabbed to death in their home. Their father, Maico "Michael" Lopez, is believed to have murdered her and abducted the children. A federal warrant for Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution was issued for Maico on September 27, 2011.
