In Boston, an 82 year old man from the nearby suburb of Brookline, Richard Bell, was surrounded and attacked by a swarm of ATV and dirt bike riders. He'd been out to purchase a Thanksgiving turkey for his family. He was hospitalized and has car was heavily damaged. The attack actually took place on November 17th, not the 24th.

Another ATV and dirt bike rider attack in August 2021 in Providence, RI, eventually resulted in arrests. Providence is about an hour away from Boston by car.

I wonder if the attackers were on dirt bikes / ATVs or.... were on 'groms'?

In contrast to dirt bikes and ATVs that a designed for off road use, 'groms' are a new bike style designed for street use that resembles a miniature Ninja or Katana type Japanese motorcycle.

Like dirt bikes, 'groms' are powerful for their size, small, loud and capable of being "wheelied". Somebody not being familiar with motorcycles could easily confuse 'groms' for dirt bikes.

Anyways.....

I have seen large groups of Grom riders in my city doing donuts in parking lots and wheelies down city streets. These groups in my city, however, were loud, showing off, but.....passive. One rider gave me a "high five" after completing a long wheelie down a four lane street.

More to the point.....

The groups maintain Facebook or other social media accounts where they advertise the times of their next rides or hang outs. It might be good for the police in Boston to establish some profiles, then start surfing those social media sites.
