Aaron Hernandez Murder Conviction News Update: Former NFL Star Accused of Threatening Alleged Accomplice in Odin Lloyd Killing

According to the Boston Globe, the former New England Patriots tight end allegedly warned Carlos Ortiz "I'll go to the people you love," after pumping the fatal bullets into Odin Lloyd in June of 2013. Ortiz later told investigators he took that to be a direct threat to the safety of his young son.

The new revelation came to light on Thursday in a ruling against 29-year-old Ortiz, who, along with Ernest Wallace, 43, still faces trial on first-degree murder charges in connection with Lloyd's killing.

....

During Thursday's proceedings, Superior Court Judge E. Susan Garsh denied Ortiz's request to suppress statements that he made to Connecticut investigators in the hours after Lloyd's body was discovered murder.

While Ortiz told investigators he did not witness Lloyd's killing, he added he overheard the shots and observed Hernandez "running with the large black gun."

Alleged Hernandez juror claims improper conduct during trial

Someone claiming to have served on the jury in Aaron Hernandez’s murder trial in Bristol County said in an online survey that jurors improperly discussed the high-profile case, a lawyer for the former NFL star alleged in a court filing.

....

In a filing Tuesday in Bristol Superior Court, defense attorneys said they received a completed jury questionnaire in August that an unidentified person had submitted to the state Office of the Jury Commissioner.

The person who filled out the survey, which anyone can access on the agency’s website, claimed to have served on the Hernandez jury and wrote in response to one question, “Even though we weren’t supposed to talk about things with others, I find it humorous now that nobody knows we did talk amongst ourselves and you still believe we didn’t.”

....

Defense lawyers are seeking a subpoena to identify the subscriber of the IP address from where the completed survey was e-mailed. It was sent to the jury commissioner on the night of April 15, hours after jurors convicted the former New England Patriots tight end.

....

Evidence that jurors violated her instructions could be grounds for a new trial.

Supposedly the "juror" also wrote:

The unknown person adds: "What you don't know doesn't hurt you after we convicted him (: too trustworthy you people are," the court document reads. "I hope you pick us again so we can do it again to anither (sic) ****."

Which makes me tend to think it wasn't a juror, that it was a hoax or someone who wants Hernandez to get out/new trial.

I don't believe a juror would do this after just convicting someone...especially in such a high profile case. It has to be a hoax. His high-priced attorneys are just looking for anything to get a new trial.

I don't buy it either, why wouldn't the defense have made a bigger deal sooner of this than chasing the person who supposedly heard a not-yet-selected juror say something at a gathering? I'm going with hoax as well, esp. since the other 'misconduct' case is falling apart before their eyes.

Do you mean "Katy the tipster"? Did you ever hear anything more on that geevee? Weren't they suppose to question her in court in front of Garsh like Sept 2 in a closed hearing?

I haven't seen anything more about it but yeah, that was supposed to happen. I'll look around and see if I can find anything on it.

Hmmm....guess I'll have to check Fraga's twitter and see if he said anything about the date she's supposed to appear under oath:

"Garsh set a Sept. 2 hearing date in Bristol County Superior Court to settle prosecutors’ request for discovery materials pertaining to the caller. At that hearing, Garsh will also schedule the date for when the caller is brought to court to be questioned under oath. That hearing, Garsh said, will be closed to the public because she said there is no constitutional or common law right to attend such a proceeding."

I can't find anything on the 9-2 hearing, Brady's suspension being overturned the next day along with some thoughtless tweets about AH ursurped all the tweets and no one seems to have covered the hearing (Fraga has zillions of tweets between now and back then but none mentioning it).

Wonder where this article was hiding yesterday when I was scouring the internet for anything recent on AH?

Judge dismisses latest Aaron Hernandez bid for new trial

Snip:

“Apart from the fact that the survey, which can be completed by anybody regardless of whether he or she actually served on a jury, was completed by someone using a Utah-based Internet service provider,’’ Garsh wrote, “the defendant [has] not shown that an allegation that jurors talked among themselves during the trial merits inquiry.

Garsh is still mulling a defense request that she speak with a woman in court — but behind closed doors — whom the defense has claimed told them that a juror violated court rules in order to be picked for the high-profile trial.

Hernandez Lawyers To Argue For Dismissal Of Murder Charges

(AP) – Lawyers for former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez will ask a judge to dismiss murder charges against Hernandez in a 2012 double slaying.

A hearing is scheduled today in Suffolk Superior Court on a motion from Hernandez’s lawyers to drop the charges.

....

Hernandez’s lawyers say insufficient evidence was presented to the grand jury to establish probable cause.

The defense also will argue that evidence seized from the SUV Hernandez was in should be tossed out because police obtained a search warrant relying on statements made by a man who failed a lie-detector test.

Sultan said police in Bristol, Connecticut, omitted the results of the test when they relied on information Ortiz provided to apply for a search warrant. Police first saw the Toyota 4Runner at the Bristol home of Hernandez's uncle while they were investigating the Lloyd killing.

Assistant District Attorney Teresa Anderson said Bristol police have a policy of not including any polygraph results in warrant applications because they are not admissible at trial.

Judge David Locke did not immediately rule on the defense request.

....

Sultan argued that the grand jury that indicted Hernandez on the witness intimidation charge was not given a full account of contradictory statements Bradley made about his shooting, including telling police and a doctor who treated him that he did not know who shot him.

The judge did not immediately rule.

Jury selection in the trial is scheduled to begin Dec. 1.

Looks like nothing was ruled on today. Sure, AH attorneys are fighting to get this evidence thrown out. An eye witness & the car that can be identified. Jury selection is supposed to start Dec 1...hope this doesn't get delayed.

This hearing was lived streamed. I missed it, but I'm sure there must be a link if someone wants to watch it. AH was in court.

So... nothing until Dec. 1st? :waiting:

Welcome Niner! I'll keep an eye out. If anything comes up I'll post it. Right now I'm not aware of any other dates, but quite sure there may be.

The judge called for the hearing to continue this Tuesday the 13th at 9:00 a.m., hopefully he'll rule on the motions then (hope too it's streamed as well) and everything stays on schedule.
