MA MA - Abbie Flynn, 60, went for walk before Super Bowl party, Gloucester, 2 Feb 2020

Awww..
I came here hoping for an update..
I am not finding any news.
I also see that the last comments were made 5 days ago.
I hope that this lady is found soon.
Her family needs to know what happened.
Yes sadly there have been no updates or new info. And now MA is in full crisis mode from Covid 19; focus is rightfully on minimizing social exposure, stocking our houses with goods and supplies and preparing for quarantine/travel bans and keeping healthy. Perhaps in a few days when everyone’s housebound their energies can focus on discovering new clues, although it’s unrealistic to expect to get access to law enforcement, media, neighbors etc.

I don’t know.
The search and information from LE came to a halt long before the arrival of Covid 19.
Seems to me that LE and the family have a theory on what happened to this poor woman and that’s why there isn’t an active, frantic effort to find her.
It’s odd, too, that there hasn’t been a single word re the arrest of the Mattapan man who is accused of trying to abduct a woman on an Ipswich beach and his mention of being in Gloucester in his first account of his whereabouts that day...only to change his story.
Why isn’t a possible connection to Abbie’s disappearance being reported on if for no other reason than to rule it out?
All of this adds to the feeling that they know what happened to Abbie.

Are LE even looking into Frazier? This guy admits to being in the area and later attempts to abduct an older woman? Cmon guys, I truly hope this family is asking questions! MOO

What does this mean? They stopped looking for her? This is strange. Do they think she drowned and they are waiting for her body to show up or a relative did something to her they do not want anyone to know about? Really strange.

I have no idea what family or LE believe, but it seems evident, given the lack of urgency and updates, that they have their theories, wouldn’t you agree?

Read through this thread & all the media links. Drowning doesn’t seem that likely to me just because I’d think AF would be very savvy to the dangers of the sea, tides, slippery moss-covered rocks, etc. She grew up there, knows stories of other local accidental deaths, etc. Could be medical issue- but would think she’d have been found by now. Could be random abduction but highly unlikely. Sounds like the 3rd white van has been investigated & dismissed by LE- they didn’t come right out & say that, but implied in video interview imo. The wackjob trying to kidnap older women for dog massages- don’t know what to make of that. Pretty brazen. I’d think cell pings could further implicate or exclude him- hope LE has enough to get a warrant for that. The FB post regarding a security guard still intrigues me. Makes me wonder if AF has an old HS flame or crush (one-way or mutual) still local. She did grow up there. Perhaps an old BF or acquaintance re-kindled his interest & resented her doctor husband & wealthy life. Perhaps stopped by just as she left for her walk. I’d check links to her elementary, MS & HS life, see who’s around that she rejected back in the day. Jmo

As for the silence of the fam- I’ve no prob with that. Mackenzie Lueck’s fam, Mollie T’s mom, Faye Swetlik’s parents, and many others have been silent. Frankly I don’t think desperate pleas yield favorable results often- and result in vicious speculations, accusations, brutalization of loved ones in their darkest days. SM is a brutal beast imo. Why subject yourself to that when you can get help of friends to use SM & MSM to keep a search active without having your every tear or lack thereof scrutinized? Again, jmo.

Also don’t see any problem with taking a walk- dog free & phone free. If you truly want fresh air, a brisk pace & a little cardio, you can’t get that with a little dog that stops every thirty seconds to sniff up the world & lift its leg! After being near a hot oven all afternoon, who wouldn’t want a 30 minute walk in crisp ocean air?

Which brings me to my last thought so far... LE stated the oven was off, but party guest said still warm. So FT with son 3:20, sunset to total darkness at 5:24 (iirc), guests arrive 6ish. I’m thinking she went for a walk around 4:45ish without keys- left door unlocked & that’s how guests entered? And LE didn’t want to state that because...? There’s a key under the flowerpot the world shouldn’t know about? Just my thoughts.

Yes lack of updates and urgency, although LE generally cannot reveal too much as it might compromise their investigation (so I’ve been told). We are all very concerned about this story, afraid that Abbie is still missing, and mystified by the lack of updates.

I keep thinking about two things. First, Abbie’s state of mind that day is unknown to us. That is very important. And secondly, the timing is so strange. Can’t help but think it was something connected to her party/get together. (Not her neighbors or friends-just can’t imagine what it might be).

AGAIN, I truly hope LE is questioning Frazier and checking his car. WTH?

True - as a reporter, I know that LE often doesn’t share all information to preserve the integrity of the investigation. Sometimes, LE does share information, off the record, with reporters. So it could be that reports have dried up on purpose to protect the investigation. But it’s too quiet. No reassurance provided through even one news report that there is no connection between the Ipswich abduction attempt and Abbie Smith’s disappearance. Does that mean there could be a connection and it’s not solid enough to report yet? IDK. Could be. That’s my point. They know more. JMOO

Perhaps they are. I think that with all the silence things are happening behind the scenes. And if LE is not investigating Frazier in Abbie Flynn’s disappearance, then they have another solid theory on what happened to this poor woman.

Pre-trial hearing April Fool’s Day- very appropriate.

His attorney’s practice mostly handles real estate & divorce matters with a sprinkling of criminal. If Mr. Dog Massager has been going after multiple 50’s women, he might need more of a criminal lawyer imo. Home

I didn’t mean so much that covid 19 has impacted LE investigation, more that we in these groups have had less time/inclination to research and discuss.

With things shutting down by the day that pre-trial hearing may be postponed.

Very worried if this guy is out on bail. Is this true, OMG?

Yup On his SM Friday he posted that he was home
His bail was also reduced. No idea why that would be. People that know him of course are shocked and don't believe it appears..but we are all aware of people that were thought of that way, and then ...I hope it wasn't an overacting woman, but it sounds like something was up with his behavior obviously to her and maybe others that witnessed. His refusing to exit his car for the police is never a good idea, but these past years show that sometimes it's just not safe for all of us to do so, but he wasn't going to be able to leave on his own either way. He was just NOT thinking clearly that day by all accounts, no matter how wonderful people who know him think so. They were not there.

My spouse suggested a long walk this weekend (apparently the great outdoors is still open). I think I'll suggest a walk near Brace Cove in Gloucester.
Super Bowl Sunday feels like eons ago - I'm hoping there's some development here soon.
