I live in her same city and the bins are tall green roller bins. But to be honest this story doesn’t still make sense to me. These bins are so tippy, even when there is nothing inside. I guess it’s possible that she fell in and somehow crushed her neck? I don’t believe we were ever told if the bin was standing up or laying down.

RIP Ms. Novaes. I hope you are at peace.

Wow - I have to say I am not buying this either. I live a few towns over. I am looking at my neighbors trash bins out of my office window - on wheels - ours happen to be blue - as I write this. It would be tough to get in a "standing" upright bin.. period. They look to be about 4 ft high. So to actually jettison yourself head first into the bin you almost have to dive off a deck/chair or something to go head first and have the bin stay upright. If you did get in there (insert eyeroll)a couple of kicks and the bin would fall over even for a smaller slighter person like me. If the bin was on it's side - very easy to wiggle back out unless you actually pass out in it. Did anything along the way say what her blood alcohol level was/tox screen ? Did she have a seizure etc? They are saying she just smothered to death?
I am with the family. Not so fast.
I would love to see a reenactment. Like Gil Carcetti put out there with the Rebecca Zahau case.
That reenactment of how Rebecca died totally convinced me she was killed - it also convinced a civil jury she was murdered (among other evidence).
I would do my own experiment but I would need to know how full the container was, how it was found etc
I hope the family and the public pushes on this one -

Death of Medford woman found in recycling bin ruled accidental, family does not accept ME’s finding

The Massachusetts Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled the May 2022 death of 61-year-old Barbara Novaes was accidental, but her family is not accepting that finding.

I always felt this was a possibility, what a horrible death though.

I had fallen into a bin before (i mentioned this previously) It tipped the bin over and my niece had a great laugh about it, but I could see if you were reaching for something and fell in, ended up hitting your head or twisting your next, could be knocked unconscious or worse.... and the article mentioned above hints at alcohol abuse, could mean coordination was off. very sad all around, but I do feel possible.
