How long would it normally be until an actual trial takes place?

Would you expect any further hearings before a judge between the arraignment and going to trial?

What about Bella, will she go to burial now or does there have to be another hearing before her body can be released?

I have class tomorrow so I'll probably end up missing tomorrows arraignment, but I do look forward to finding out more. It'll be tough. Too many lost babies in the news. I am on the East Coast so I'll hear something one way or another. I'm still hoping RB doesn't get off easy with some kind of plea bargain.

:stop:

We will not be solving the ills and shortcomings of CPS/DCFS in this thread. Many valid points and concerns have been raised and everyone has an opinion on how to fix the problems with the system as a whole. Going round in circles on Bella's thread does NOT solve a single thing.

Return to discussing Bella's case or this thread will end up closed for admin review and NOBODY wants that!

I have a similar situation with one of my children. He will be 3 in December and his speech is delayed. I brought this up with his pediatrician at his 18 month check up and we decided to wait to see if he had more words by age 2 before any further testing. At his 2 year well visit with only some improvement, the doctor decided to have him evaluated by early intervention, which we did. If RB had these concerns about her daughter i wonder if she told the pediatrician, which leads me to my bigger question: if she ever took Bella to the doctor and when the last appointment was. I'm sure they are collecting those records as we speak.

I'm guessing Bella didn't have a regular doctor because surely the folks at the doc's office would have recognized her?

Hard to say how long. I have seen it take a few years. Could see a guilty plea and no Trial. I believe once the ME has completed their work Bella will be turned over to (someone) for Burial. I'm just not sure who. Bio Dad maybe?

Link to the article where RB's medical problems are mentioned:

"In September of 2011, Bond told attorney Pamela Morris, who was handling a bail hearing for her, that she was bipolar. She said she was prescribed Klonopin and had been in a methadone program for 10 months. She had also been hospitalized at Boston Medical Center and stayed at the Barbara McInnis House, a Boston facility for homeless people who are sick, that year.

She told Morris that she had kidney failure and arthritis.

McCarthy also has a criminal record, though many charges were dismissed. His alleged offenses include possession of ammunition, possession of a hypodermic needle, and motor vehicle offenses."

My sincerest apologies if this link has been posted, but it is regarding the tipster who gave the tip to Boston Police detectives:

Tipster says she's glad 'Baby Doe' now has name

The "Baby Doe" mystery broke open due to a tip to Boston Police detectives, leading police to identify the child and arrest her mother and her mother's boyfriend.

"I'm a mother. As a mother, it's unimaginable someone would do that and I'm just glad I was able to have a small part in giving Bella a name," said the woman who called in the tip. FOX25 has agreed not to identify her.

"It's a criminal investigation and there a lot of things surrounding it that are not for me to say at the moment," she said.

"She didn't impress me at all I just didn't want her around. Bum money and pawning the kid off with my wife. It was wrong," said the property manager.

I'm not understanding why folks feared making a complaint on behalf of Bella??? DCF does not disclose the person's name. Perhaps just a mindset of mistrust in general???

BBM:

The bio dad IS a legal next of kin...... HOWEVER as of now, the bio mother is recognized as the primary care-taker (NO COMMENT!) and has a right to determine the disposal of her body. IIRC, Mass legal system WILL permit the bio dad to petition for standing as the legal, responsible party, 'esp if RB is held without bond!

For those who followed the Caylee Anthony heartbreak, this time there IS a known, admitted bio dad so........

I have not followed this case form the beginning. Did they guess Baby Doe was 4? Or did they give a range like 3-4? Because 3 would be fairly close especially if she was in a higher percentage on the growth chart. People often think my son is older because of his size (age 2 and very close to Bella's size.)

They gave an age range of 3-5.
Bella was almost 3, so she was within the age range.

I don't understand it either. It would have been anonymous! My only experience with DCF came when our neighbor was leaving his children unattended for days at a time to be with a woman in another town. Conditions were awful. Dog feces everywhere in the house. A total mess. The DCF still couldn't take the children. 13, 10 and 7 were the ages. We were told as long as there was food in the home and electricity and the children weren't being abused physically that their hands were tied. Sorry, this post is not bashing DCF, just understanding that basically the case workers cannot do a whole lot to remove a child from their parents.

Let's hope he is the bio dad. IMO he likely is. R needs no chance at any say with Bella.

My guess is that this is the electronic age. Nothing is confidential.. we see examples of that every day. Large corporations are hacked and surely, someone, somewhere knows where that letter, phone call, or email came from when it is submitted to DCYS. JMO

Anything i write is just my opinion.

Well I guess somebody could make a call from a phone booth. If they cared enough. I suspect these types of folks just adopt an attitude of dont mess me with me and I wont mess with you. Sigh.......

It would be easy and cynical to say that Trooper Dan Herman, Detective Lieutenant Jack Lannon, Lieutenant Bob Murphy, and Sergeant Scott Holland were just doing their jobs. But they and so many other investigators from Winthrop and surrounding police departments went above and beyond.

From the moment they stood on the shoreline, staring at Baby Doe’s body, Herman and Holland vowed they would not rest until they found out who she was and why she died.

Herman, the lead investigator, drove around with that digitally-created image of Bella taped to his dashboard.
And on Saturday morning, 24 hours after solving the biggest mystery of their careers, Dan Herman’s State Police colleagues were back on that same craggy shoreline, in Revere, a few miles north of where they found Bella Bond’s body. This time it was an unidentified woman’s body.

Dan Herman couldn’t join them. He was back at the office, on what was supposed to be a day off, still working for Bella.

Bless every one of these officers and investigators working so diligently every single day.

DCF cant win, people just love to make them the enemy. One day they are the gestapo looking to snatch children away from their parents for no reason at all, the next they are incompetent fools that dont even respond to complaints or follow up on anything. The vast majority of DCF/DYS workers are dedicated people that devote their lives to trying to help children and families at risk, and they are tremendously overworked.
