Possibly it is a matter of courtroom etiquette. Historically men removed their hats when they enter a home/room/elevator as a sign of respect for women/others. Women, on the other hand, do NOT remove their hats indoors.

I've been to court hearing. Hats, sunglasses anything on your head has to be removed or contempt of court. My mom is old and has tinted glasses. Bailiff made her remove them.

No it is not a good reason at all. Are you kidding me? Half the stay at home moms here would have to be looked into then by cps. My mom never drove because she has a fear of driving. She can hardly be a passenger. Should cps have been all over that and taken me away cause she didn't have a drivers license? Where are we gonna put all these kids?

I am clearly not talking about stay at home mothers.

RB was older then MM he saw her as his Mommy replacement taking care of him like mommy used to do. Once a mamas boy always a mamas boy.

He probably did what RB told him not to not get kicked to the curb.

Exactly! He lived with his mother just about his entire life, he was definitely a mama's boy! He likely clung to RB and tolerated her rages/behavior because she filled that role.

Also the suggestion that he "kept her a prisoner" for months is beyond silly. He was a freaking Heroin junkie! How is someone that goes in and out of a Heroin stupor going to control/watch a captive 24/7 to prevent escape? The only way they could do it would be to chain the captive to a wall and duct tape their mouth.

I think we need to question this. Where that article says "he knew more than a week ago that his young daughter Bella Bond had been killed" it's linking to another article, dated 20th September:

http://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2015/09/19/bella/gTUv3lRRWmVY5uIdrbW0SP/story.html

Which says "By the end of last week, after they had spent about 24 hours together, he said, she told him the awful truth."

The 'end of last week' could be referring to Wednesday the 16th September (which I think is the date the tipster contacted the police) through Friday the 18th September, which is the day after the arrests. It depends on whether or not someone would consider 'last week' to include those dates, and whether the 'end of the week' might refer to Wednesday night through Thursday.

That will come out in the trial, but from JA's wording in interviews to the media, RB apparently wanted to talk about nothing but Bella, and initially only said that 'He'd understand later', and it was only later during their encounter that she admitted Bella was dead. If it was the Wednesday night, and that's why Rachelle called JA requesting to see him, it could have been because she'd already told the tipster's brother (MS) and knew that the police had been contacted by this time and she had only a few hours to tell her version to JA before she was arrested and he learned from the police/media.

It could have been the previous week, but it's very unclear from what has been released which dates it is referring to. So he could have known for a week, or he could have only known for about 12 hours before the police came to make the arrests. I think he's referring to the week that it broke and that he only knew for about 12 hours. Otherwise, he's not only withheld going to the police for a whole week, he would have spent the night with Rachelle and then said "Bye" and let her go back to the apartment (where was MM for this week) for a whole week before she told the tipster's brother. I find the 16th/17th September to be more logical for this story, BUT so much of the story/stories coming out are not logical, I could easily be completely wrong and he walked around with this knowledge for a whole week before Rachelle told anyone else...which raises the question of what did Rachelle do after speaking with the tipster's brother...did she go back home for the night, did she stay at someone else's place, or did she call JA and want to sleep outside for the night, knowing the police were coming the next day and she wouldn't be sleeping outside under the stars for many, many years to come?

@Amonet. Great post. You raise very good questions. Ugh. What a hot mess. This is why so many guilty parties never get convicted. Stories all over the place.

Exactly!!! DA is not buying it either.

It bothered me that she had her hood up too! I found it disrespectful to the court, as old-fashioned as that sounds. Not really sure I want to see more of her, but I did wonder how she got away with that.

It was her apt she could have gotten him kicked out through section 8 or police. She has a history of restraining orders so she is fully aware how they work and that she could have gotten one against him.

Her sister grew up with her. I'm believing her words over anyone else's at the moment. She's the most credible. IMO. She believes RB was the instigator. RB was older then MM he saw her as his Mommy replacement taking care of him like mommy used to do. Once a mamas boy always a mamas boy. I believe RB was able to manipulate him.

He probably did what RB told him not to not get kicked to the curb.

Respectfully BBM ^^

Many heroin addicts could care less about the age of female partner. Older, younger, much older. Not an addict's priority.

The flip side of the Mama's Boy theory is that once Mama is gone and she's no longer trying to control him, set him straight, he can finally attempt to control and/or lash out at a female, any female. With Mom deceased, Michael McCarthy was now free to release his rage (Paraphrasing...Who are you going to believe? Me or that *** ***?).

Since RB will no longer have her section 8 home from fraud. I'm sure HUD ended that real quick. MM didn't fight bail because him and his attorney knew he had nowhere to go anymore. Might as well stay In jail have a roof, bed and food while investigators prove in the meantime she is the Murderer.

If MM was holding her hostage wouldn't it be stupid to go to the hospital and leave her there to tell cops??? I would think he would have suffered through it in the apt to not risk leaving her alone.

Her story is not logical.

Thank you for taking the time to look at this again with me. I don't think that he knew for a week that Bella was dead.
Linked article quotes that after going back and forth for weeks, RB called JA and they spent the night at the beach where at some point she finally told him her version, which included her being threatened and held hostage by MM, and they discussed whether to go to the FBI or police. Remember she had been telling him that Bella was in Cape Cod so to him everything is starting to make sense and he is believing her "story." At the same time she texted MS that MM killed Bella, who contacted his sister, who contacted police.

Was it the next day they found the two of them at JA mother's house?

Worded differently than I've read before.a

His story is not logical either. They are both ADDICTS. They both lie and manipulate others.

As another poster pointed out: Isn't his story that he was told that Bella had been removed from the apartment? Doubt McCarthy had not opened the refrigerator to grab something to eat or drink during the days/time Bella was in there.

She's lying, but so is Michael McCarthy.

I've had two situations with Children and Youth (C&Y). Both amazed me.

First one, my neighbor's husband passed away. Everything went down hill from there. Open and closed cases with C&Y. House has broken windows and lawn hasn't been mowed all summer. At some point Mom goes out of the country for a breast augmentation and leaves young children with babysitter. Babysitter isn't there, at all. Paternal grandmother calling police, school and C&Y with no help. Electricity turned off and kids come to my house. I call C&Y. Explain to them the situation and that the children have no clean clothing, a pet has defecated all over the house, no electricity, no adult supervision, etc... I tell them the children will be staying overnight with me.
They basically say ok. They did not ask me any questions. At the end of the call I asked if they wanted my name and address and the women says, "oh, um... yeah ok."

Just for reference I live in an upscale neighborhood in an upperclass town. This family has a never ending file with police, C&Y, the school, etc... the system has failed these children. The grandmother continues to fight but she legally has no rights to these children.

Second time. In another state that is known for strict marijuana laws. Mother finds out baby daddy is growing and selling pot out of his home with child living there part time. She calls DFS with proof and pictures. DFS and police get information wrong and give dad plenty of time to clean up and dispose of evidence despite his admitting to the crime. Within a month dad is completely cleared and child has to go back to his house. He has no job, a suspended license yet mom has not choice.

The system is messed up.

We might live in the same area. Our state has a horrible Children and youth track record.

It appears that Michael McCarthy's mother prob spent close to two decades (my guess is since his teenage years; he's 35 yo now) trying to keep him on the straight & narrow, assisting him when in legal trouble, trying to get him clean, etc. According to one of her neighbors, his mother passed away about 2 years ago.

That's close to 20 years of having his Mommy take care of him & his heroin addiction and what were likely other probs--legal, financial, criminal, health, social/emotional etc.

Of course RB looks mean, angry and hardened. She is. However...

Michael McCarthy is not IMO an altar boy. With his double chin and excess pounds, seems he found not only a place to crash (prob not paying her a nickel) and a female to have relations with, but a nice clean apartment and plenty of take-out fast food and no one to nag him!

My guess is he prob set himself up as her pimp-of-sorts. With Mommy dead, he finally got to run the show. Any show. He obvi didn't follow his Mommy's "orders." No reason to follow RB's commands. Even if I cut him a break, this mean-looking female didn't control this overweight heroin addicted 35 yo man-child.

Afraid of RB? Don't believe that for a second. Took orders from RB? Don't believe that either. With his Mommy gone & off his back, he finally could do as he pleased...and he apparently did. Totally.

“He was an addict, a heroin addict,” she said. “She spent her whole life trying to stabilize him, trying to keep him out of trouble.”

But two years ago, McCarthy’s mother died, she said. Months later, McCarthy was evicted, and the former neighbor said he told her he would have to live on the streets.

I agree that he is no alter boy and is a hard core junkie and a complete low life. After my extensive reading of articles, watching and listening to all that's out there on this case my observations and gut feeling lead me to believe thus far that RB was in charge of all that went down with Bella and the steps to hide and discard her body. I just think he did what she told him to or he was out on the streets. Would this guy even know what a contractors bag is? Lol

In the beginning I thought MM was the one who killed her. The more I read, hear and watched there are inconsistencies I have changed my mind for now and it will probably change again. This is far from over.

My friends always call me a human lie detector because I'm usually right. Lol. I'm open to anything I'm not biased. I hope I'm wrong as I can't imagine a Mom doing harm to her own child she gave birth too. Let's face it guys we've seen moms kill their own babies time and time again.

So far, only McCarthy is charged with Bella's murder. RB may be charged later.

Or Not.

My guess is that Pros has direct evidence against McC (and not RB) that we obvi are not privy to...more than RB's word and/or her witnessing of the murder.

The computer hard drive will us more. One article said RB and JA spoke on the phone regularly he even talked to Bella on the phone although her speech was only a few words. RB wanted to always talk money to JA this eventually led to RB ending all phone contact with JA. I wonder if he threatened her with going to DCF and since she stopped contact this led him to coming out to Boston. I wonder if she killed Bella to spite him. I don't know this whole story is twisted, it makes no sense. One thing for sure Bella is dead and her Mom and MM are scum of the earth.

The sister said Bella had no words. Kids usually just look at a phone and don't talk.

She's lying, but so is Michael McCarthy.

Your are correct. Since they are both liars do we know for sure if Bella was in fact in the fridge? LE took it so hopefully we will find out eventually. I just hope MM cracks with the real story unless he is seriously telling the truth or believes it as the truth.

Could she have made up some story about what was in the bag to pacify him? He looks stupid and gullible. Maybe Bella was never in the fridge.

Drug addicts are quite good with their lies and storytelling.

I agree with you. That woman is evil. My 4 year old accidentally saw the pic of her on here earlier today when I put my ipad down for literally 2 mins to do laundry. I come back in the room and my daughter is pointing at the picture and said "mommy who is that scary lady, is she a monster?" My jaw dropped. Lesson learned, never leave this site open with my 4 year old anywhere near me. Woops

I read or watched JA say Bella said words like "kitty"

I talk on the phone with my niece. She doesn't say a word. I talk to her.
