I wonder how the grandmother and her BF ,or is it husband , could get custody? First of all, there is no record that JA is the father. And gmom and her hubby were homeless so I wonder about their history.

I do wonder how JA got out of child support and why. I cannot believe it is not a requirement that the father must be identified. Where I lived, it did not matter if the mother said there were 20 possibilities.

I wonder if she said she was a prostitute and did not know in order to get money directly fom JA.

Where I live, the money goes to the county. There may be $50 cash that goes to the mother. I forget

In Texas, and in a personal experience with a young man who isn't paying child support, it often isn't pursued because the father will either flee or be willing to be taken to jail just to not have to pay child support. As I often hear "you can't get blood from a turnip" especially if said turnip is in jail and unable and unwilling to work. :notgood:

It doesn't look like JA ever worked very long at any meaningful employment. Maybe he sent money to RB when he had extra, but that was little and far between. That's why she cut off contact between Bella and JA.

From LaurieJ's article and link :tyou:

According to officials, McCarthy, being represented by attorney Jonathan Shapiro, punched Bella in the stomach repeatedly sometime in May and put her in a refrigerator for a few days while he and Bella’s mother used heroin. However, investigators have not yet given a cause of death. There is speculation she may have been suffocated before being punched. McCarthy and Bond then allegedly put Bella in a duffle bag and dumped her in Boston Harbor. Bella floated to Deer Island where she was found.

McCarthy, who claimed he killed Bella because she was possessed, was arrested at Beth Israel Hospital where he was being treated for an abcess.

He punched Bella after he suffocated her? And MM is now admitting he killed Bella?

I don't know if we will ever know what this little angel endured at the hands of these two subhumans' hands.

Hmmm... Good question. I know JA had 10 pages of arrest records. RB - I'm not sure either.

I know that they both had extensive arrest records and there were some convictions, but I suspect that they were all for misdemeanors.

I agree with that. Or another cute trick is that the fathers quit jobs and work under the table. My hubby had to deduct money for child support from people that worked for him. Court ordered.

They complained even though they made good money. 25 % of their wage for one child.

My hubby would tell him how lucky they were as only 100% of his money went for his family. He had no compassion for these guys whatsoever. You play, you pay.

Even if the guy cannot pay now, his name is known and any money csn be attached, even money made while in prison.

There is no reason taxpayers should pay for these children , although we do and must when there is no choice. And I am a left winger! We cannot have children paying the price of adult's poor choices. That is why I believe in sterilizing those that will not take care of their children. You can play, but you do not get to ctreate children as if they are puppies in a puppy mill.

I harp and harp on this, but why should these people create children that get to live in hell?

No one in this chaotic mess had "extra", imo. RB played the same spiteful game a lot of single mothers play... a kind of "pay per view".

Anything i write is just my opinion.

:goodpost: It's awful! That's a dirty rotten trick to play... If the money actually went to help the children it would be another thing, but as we well know often the cards are traded for money for drugs...

Also, the game of calling CPS by families on the parent who might have custody is mighty low too. I never realized how often that game was played by separated and divorced families.

My sister was reported to CPS because she gave her step-daughter a Rx med for an allergic rash. The bio mom learned about it and called CPS. It was a huge mess. They went to my little niece's school - she was only 6 and questioned her for several hours and the other children were pulled out of the classroom and questioned. I was shocked! Needless to say, they in turn did the same thing to the bio-mom the first chance they got. I was stunned. The kids were seeing this bickering and backstabbing and learning this is what we do to each other - families! :gaah: !!!

"Pay per view" Excellent description of what was going on and is going on in sooo many children's lives. If there was any extra it went for drugs. Although, Bella was dressed cute in the pics we did see.

I'm thinking thins might be faulty/jumping to conclusions type of reporting??

10 pages??? How do these people find each other?

lol! I wish I knew. Birds of a feather? ? ? How did she and McCarthy find each other? I'm thinking RB wouldn't have killed Bella by herself, but then she met MM and somehow the combination of the two allowed the evil to take over and murdered poor Bella. Good Grief! And, of all the women who try to get pregnant and can't... and then we have a prostitute and drug user who turns out to be Fertile Myrtle! It baffles me!

not sure if this was posted before about MM's violent and strange past but interesting perspectives from his Former roommate and friends;

http://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/20...ong-descent/9UPZB7U1kHjsDEi96BebyH/story.html

"He made few friends, and domestic disputes occasionally drew the police to the apartment, though McCarthy was never arrested. The girlfriend’s sister, who spoke on the condition she not be named, said McCarthy beat the woman, and that she had seen bruises and a scar on the woman’s arms.

“He was very, very violent,” said Lightbody, who said she also saw the injuries McCarthy inflicted on the girlfriend."

They aren't meeting at work. They are meeting on the street or at food shelves or homeless shelters.

I used to work with homeless families, so please do not think I am dissing them. Their lives are tragic. Tragic beginnings and tragic as they go along. Some do make it out. Some are third generation homeless. Sounds like JA is at least second generation.

It would get deleted out of here if I started in on the stories of the homeless people I worked with. It made me weep. Their lives of being abused by parents who undoubtedly had been treated as trash by their parents. We gave them positive parenting skills and encouragement. Poverty is incredibly hard.

Little Bella would have had severe issues. Maybe she could have risen about the nightmare life, You never know.

They also meet at the methadone clinic according to the above linked article.

Could RB take Bella to the methadone clinic with her? Do addicts regularly bring children along with them to get their fix at the clinic?

CBS Boston Officials say the girl was found inside a trash bag with a Zebra print blanket, wearing polkadot leggings, close to the shoreline of Deer Island, a peninsula connected to the Boston suburb of Winthrop by a causeway. Procopio said the child's body was either placed on the shore, or placed somewhere in the water before it washed up. He said it was likely there only for a period of days based on the condition of the body -- officials believe she was alive the weekend before she was found, Procopio said.

Okay, wrong holiday and Bella was already gone, but this is what detectives were pleading with the public for regarding information:

Before the Fourth of July holiday weekend, investigators had pleaded with people to keep an extra eye out for families who normally have children with them who may be out without one. They are asking the same from landlords, building owners, pediatricians, and any other community caretakers going forward.

Poor Bella missed the 4th of July and her birthday because of two creeps who could only put themselves first...

This whole case reminds me too darn much of another baby that was blessed with a pitiful excuse for a mother. I'm hoping this baby gets the justice that baby CA didn't get.

That article was dated July 7, 2015, before the refrigeration of the body was discovered. I think that changed the opinion on the estimated date of her death.

A couple of people asked what happened to JA's wife/girlfriend in Florida. She apparently died in a car crash. I don't think it's an appropriate topic for discussion as he's not a suspect and it doesn't have anything to do with Bella, but that's apparently what happened.

So, now we are looking at the end of May as the time of Bella's death? Could they have kept her in the refrigerator as long as two weeks?
