Cases were opened twice..Once in in 2012 and once in 2013. Someone called. It may have been anonymous.. JMO

True. That's all fine and dandy, but coming forward now and claiming to have called (and in all likelihood did call), makes it seem like they want some kind of recognition for calling anonymously. In the end, the calls didn't make a difference. No one is a hero. Bella is dead. I blame Rachelle Bond.

It's nice that Bella's legacy is a re-commitment to social services for children.

However, I think the culprit here is drugs, and I'm not optimistic that anything will be done to fix the damage drugs are doing to our people.

Making drug laws more strict is not the answer to the problem, imo. I think the problem to be addressed is WHY people turn to drugs and zone out of their lives. I'm not talking recreational drug use, but the type of drug abuse that saps your humanity and makes you into a creature whose sole purpose is to get more drugs. What is wrong with a culture that SO MANY of our fellow humans are lost enough that being drugged is preferable to living a life? I think we're too afraid to delve into that problem.

So in the meantime, social services will get some press coverage.

JMO.
The culprit here is apathy and the mistaken notion that reunification of the family is the desired and preferred outcome. This isnt about parents who want their kids with them.. this should be about the SAFETY of the vulnerable. Simple. When dealing with patients, or elderly in the community, for example, it is always about safety..

Drugs arent always present.. plenty of abusive, neglectful parents out there that are mentally ill, not on drugs, dont cook, send their kids to school dirty, don't get them adequate medical care, are too immature and want to party, have no family or community support.. and the outcome is a child at risk. Add to that a foster care system that is broken, DCF policies that makes the child go visit parents in jail, often at great personal hardship to the child's caregivers, minimum standards as to parental expectations, social workers who want to show "reunification" as their outcome etc etc.

All these dead and abused children showing up in bags, on the sides of highways, in schools, etc etc. tells the tale. SAFETY of the child has been overlooked because the placement of these kids in other situations is difficult to accomplish. IMO

Nothing is going to change.. Where i live, if you were "darted" by DCF your file was always there and accessible.. a closed file meant nothing.. the social workers were supposed to search for any other concerns that were ever reported, EVER! Come on.. this is minimum.. where there is smoke there is fire. i am not really interested about divorced parents playing the system to get back at the other parent.. OH WELL.. it still needs to be followed through.

Time will tell if anything really changes..Maybe it is a start.. i hope so.

Anything i write is just my opinion.

Gov. Baker just said he has no record of neglect complaints regarding Baby Bella from her father's mother, who claims she called twice. #wbz

I thought it was bio-dad's mom who called CPS when Bella was a baby??

JMO

So the Governor says there is no record of her calling. I don't believe anything these peripheral players say. She can say what she wants but there is no record.

I can picture RB sitting on Bella as a way to control her. Yep, I sure can picture her sitting on Bella's chest.

Oh! And great comparison about sex and drugs too! Once Pandora's box is opened, it's hard to close it.

Well...that and the fact that drugs often DO make make people feel really good. Just like sex, the desire isn't all about peer pressure kwim?

Among better educated individuals there is often enough info to avoid certain drugs due to the risk of severe addiction. Sure it may be good, but they know if they go down that road they may not be able to change course.

I have no doubt heroin is a little slice of heaven, and meth is one heck of a great energy/ego booster.

Exactly. I think kids who are suffering from the lack of skills to cope find so much from these drugs, it makes them feel better, and gives them a group of people to belong to.

I think often, but not always, better educated individuals are likely to have the EQ skills I was talking about, and a better sense of self worth. However, that goes and in hand with the fact that kids that come from impoverishment are less likely to have the same value placed on education. I don't have time to find the links but I know kids from very poor homes are not as likely to have a parent checking on their homework, making them study etc. That's not always the case, and in some cases it's not from lack of parental care, but parents having to work multiple jobs or long hours to keep food and a roof over their heads.

Very true... the godmother appears to want a lot of attention...and her calls are disputed. There are a few news videos featuring the godmother.

And next we will hear that she had began teaching Sunday school. This case is going to give me repetitive muscle strain due to the fact I'm constantly rolling my eyes. Giving someone effect CPR is a very physical task, and, if you don't really know what you are doing, it can be practically ineffective. Why not call 911?!? Oh that's right, she couldn't, because then her mother of the year facade would have been tarnished. She was culpable. If truly innocent, I can not fathom any mother not running from the home and screaming for someone to 911 if it came to it.

she showed LE her phone, she apparently trasnposed the numbers.

There was another video that I saw the other day (will try to find), basically it was all about "her". How she nurtured and raised Bella, how she was the one that cared, how she called the police, very self serving. She focused on herself and didn't say much about Bella. IMO.

Guess his story has changed now.

JA: I'm here as a father. I love my daughter...please, he never even met her and didn't even respect her enough to report her murder, but just left her to decompose in some morgue while everyone was trying to identify her! That's supposed to be love??

Sorry...rant over. He really turns me the wrong way.

eh. i dont really see her in that bad a light. the media is all over this, i doubt she had to try hard to get her publicity.

I would love to hear more from the GM when she started to say "we called him numerous times to come up" ..... hmmm, I would love to know the reasons he DID NOT come up
from FL to see his daughter????

On the subject of DNA...I wonder why they did not release info on ethnicity.

That is certainly not hard to determine, if they ran tests and saw that she had a lot of Italian blood that would be important info, it would certainly have a lot of Italians in that area taking note and paying more attention!

Are they Italian? I am guessing not.

Well okay then! In the past it was NOT a priority, but now it is and he has it all under control.

Reunification is the priority. A lot of people do not think it is a safe priority, but that is the goal across the US

I hope this goes across the US as my understanding is that most, if not all, states have reunification as the number one goal. There has to be something for these children, though. Where will they go?

Safety is always the number one priority and must be assessed and documented (at least where I live) with every contact with the child. Once it is determined that the child is not safe and must be removed from the home, reunification becomes the goal. There is also something called "concurrent planning" once a child is in placement, where the caseworker must be working on the goal of reunification and the goal of adoption at the same time....it's not until a court hearing where CPS recommends a goal change to adoption that the judge changes the goal. It is a long process that goes on and on as the parents are given chance after chance to meet the requirements set forth by CPS and the court.
