Is little Bella EVER going to get her dignified burial? What the heck is going on?

The judge approved the defense to do their own autopsies which had to be completed by Nov. 19. Maybe little Bella's body will finally be released for burial then...a few more days.

The manner of Bella Bond’s death has been declared a homicide, said Jake Wark, spokesman for the Suffolk district attorney’s office. He declined to comment on the cause, pending the independent examinations being performed on behalf of Rachelle D. Bond and Michael P. McCarthy.
....
The Suffolk district attorney did not oppose the request for independent autopsies, Wark said. Judge Lisa Ann Grant ordered the examinations to be completed by Nov. 19, when McCarthy and Bond return to court.

Hearing postponed in Bella Bond case

Michael Patrick McCarthy, 35, of Quincy and Rachelle Dee Bond, 40, of Dorchester were supposed to appear for a hearing Thursday. The hearing has now been rescheduled to Dec. 22, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office said in a statement.

Bella Bond’s body is still in the custody of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which has ruled her death a homicide, prosecutors said.

I got the dates muddled and thought the hearing was today. I wonder if the new autopsy found anything?

What is it now, about six months since she died? Poor baby Bella :(

Joseph Amoroso said in a telephone interview Thursday night that he is planning a private funeral and burial for the girl, who was known for months only as Baby Doe.
.....
He said he initially intended to organize a public funeral for Bella, but reached an agreement with the girl’s mother, Rachelle Bond, who requested a private service, Amoroso said.
.....
Amoroso did not have custody of Bella and never met the girl during her short life.

He said he reached the agreement with Bond through her lawyer and did not speak with her directly.

“She still has rights as crazy as it sounds,” he said.

I believe that is at the family's discretion. Possible that in addition to agreement on services RB and JA also reached an agreement on the text on the headstone.

Wait Mom has rights to her funeral and burial? She already had her burial for Bella in a dirty old trash bag. What gives the evil Mom rights to make burial decision a second time. Unbelievable!!

I try to stay away from this thread. It really upsets me everything I read here about these two murdering scumbags.

I take it it's confirmed Amoroso is the bio father then? I assume they will have checked DNA (given Bonds past profession) and wouldn't just release Bella to a man who'd never met her.

So sad he never made much effort to see her when she was alive, he could've been the one to save her :(

Casey Anthony had rights for Caylee's remains for burial too. She signed them over to Cindy. Casey wanted Caylee's remains to be buried. Cindy had her remains cremated. I never felt good about what Cindy did. For once I sided with Casey with wanting Caylee buried.

As horrible as life was for Bella while alive, at least they (RB and JA) came to an agreement peacefully about a private burial. Bella experienced such turmoil while alive it is good that she will be buried peacefully. Blessed be the medical examiners who cared for Bella. She will forever live in their hearts.

RB is in jail she should have no rights. Casey Anthony killed Caylee as we all know but at the time no one knew for certain she murdered her and put her there cough cough. We know RB took part in putting Bella in the trash bag so therefore no rights.

As far as Cindy I have no problem with her decision to cremate Caylee especially what was just left her little scattered skeletal bones and unattached skull. Maybe she felt by having her ashes she always had a part of Caylee with her like the way she used to take Caylees teddy bear with her to all the court hearings.

There should be a law introduced...Bella's Law, if you will, that if your mother kills or is an accessory to a child murder they should not have any parental rights, period.

I agree. I think with cremation you can, if you choose, always have a little bit of your loved one with you which can give great comfort. Burial isn't for everyone, I actually hate the idea of that little girl decomposing in a cold, dark grave possibly lying in water. Anyway, the main thing is that Bella is finally at peace.

The masses will show up. It is inevitable. Sadly it could get ugly. People think Bella is part of all of us now. I hope it doesn't turn into a circus. I respect the wishes of both "parents" that they want the burial private.

Give her the dignity every soul deserves. There are no right or wrong answers here but this shouldn't be a media event. IMO

My worst fear is that someone is going to profit from Bella's death. So many gave freely from their heart after she was found to ensure she would receive a proper burial, it doesn't seem fair that the father should be able to sell pictures of her burial. I don't know that he will, but I fear the worst. If there would be a way to strip this child of even more of her dignity it would be profiting from her burial.

BUT...she has in the court of law declared that she is "not guilty" of the crime of which she has been charged, therefore she is considered innocent of the crime until proven guilty in a court of law. That's the fact and since that fact exists, she does retain her parental rights. Does that infuriate those who must deal with the ramifications of alleged misconduct?.....oh yeah, it does but we live in a land of laws.

BBM:

Confirmation that Amoroso is biologically related to Bella is NOT required IF RB signed over the responsibility of arranging the burial to him. Checking the DNA is NOT required for the exact same reason, in point of fact, there is an advantage to NOT confirm by DNA, the relationship/genetic component due to possible fiscal issues. (not saying that the State would follow up on the responsibility of the sperm donor BUT they could!). Releasing the body to the chosen funeral home is a fact of life for the OCME, as long as there is legal documentation present.......the decedent is "picked -up" and leaves the OCME.

The hands of the OCME are tied essentially by legal strings of paperwork but I will testify that given cases where there is public attention and/or interfamily disagreements, I do bring in "legal" just in case! :)
