Shaprio: Bella mom claims she was a hostage. That's ridiculous. She was free to come and go as pleased. She had apt keys. #fox25

Shaprio: McCarthy was out of apt every Sunday when he went to Church with his father. #FOX25

Shapiro: Everything Ms Bond says about being hostage, is a complete lie. #fox25

Bob Ward Fox25 ‏@Bward3
Shapiro: McCarthy has been consistent. He thought Bella was in state's custody, as Bella's mom said. #fox25

Bob Ward Fox25 ‏@Bward3
Shapiro: McCarthy did not kill Bella Bond. State's case is weak. We ask for reasonable bail. #FOX25

Defense is suggesting 100K bail. #fox2

McCarthy held without bail in Bella Bond hearing

Shapiro said the child’s autopsy, which showed no signs of trauma or broken bones, contradicts Bond’s claim that she saw McCarthy violently striking the toddler’s mid-section. Shapiro also said that McCarthy is known as a “easy-going” and mild-mannered person, and characterized Bond as easily angered, drug addicted, and a woman with a history of child neglect.
.....
McCarthy’s next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 16. In court Monday, he appeared more clean-shaven than in previous appearances, and did not hide his face from the court gallery, unlike Bond during her arraignment. Shapiro said Michael McCarthy has received treatment for his heroin addiction in prison.

I agree. I don't think he's a saint or angel by any means, but I have felt from the beginning that RB killed Bella and MM took charge of disposal.

Does anyone here subscribe to a theory that MM played no part in the murder or disposal (I hate saying that) of Bella?

Could it be possible, that he was hanging around with RB, and did stay there where Bella was from time to time, but then one day Bella was gone and that RB said child services took her, and maybe MM did not stay there during the time when Bella was in the fridge (maybe this was a day or two, who knows)... Maybe he never knew and he truly thought all along that she was taken by child services?

is that possible at all?

Sure, it's possible. He could have been there physically but too high to know what was going on.

Someone remind me what charges they're both up on please?

  • #174
McCarthy for the murder and Bond for accessory after the fact and larceny.

  • #175
I think RB killed her and McCarthy helped with disposal and covering it up. The weights used came from McCarthy's father's plumbing business. If it weren't for that vital piece of info I would have believe he is the fall guy for the whole story. As of right now, I do think he is the accessory after the fact and she the murderer.

I do not think that McCarthy would have been the one to discipline or comfort Bella if she was having a hard time sleeping, hence he would not have been alone in a room with a child that wasn't his.

RB has never said he went charging back to the room angry and she heard him beating little Bella. And the autopsy evidence doesn't suggest a beating so bad it caused her death.

You see, this is what really pees me off. A child is dead, both adults are know to be lying druggies. Her more so if the autopsy showed there were no stomach injuries. So why is HE up on murder and SHE isn't?? Is it just because she said so? That that was her version of events?

I'm lost. Please can someone help me out here cos I'm kinda feeling it went like this?

LE: So, who killed him?
RB: He definitely did it, I saw him
MM: She must have, because I wasn't there
LE: OK we'll just toss a coin then

What am I missing? Why is RB not up on a murder rap?

At the arraignment today, prosecutors said that RB asked MM to go quiet Bella not going to sleep because he was good with her.

Prosecutors had said that the duffle bag was MMs that he put laundry in and the weights found matched those at his father's plumbing shop. He could have had this stuff with him at RBs apt and she just made the story up along with everything else.

I haven't been able to find a video of the full hearing yet, but still looking.
There is a video clip of the hearing in here: http://www.whdh.com/story/30935501/man-charged-in-bella-bond-death-appears-in-court-in-murder-case

JMO but MM is no dupe. I find them both equally culpable, no matter who administered the killing blow(s)

So I learned in the Charlie Scott case that just because a witness (RB) says this is what happened does not mean that is what happened, hence my below signature. Charlie Scott has a family digging for answers from day one with the passion of a family's love and collectively are a force to be reckoned with. Little Bella has prosecutors... that have other cases...

They could have drugged her, suffocated her or any number of other scenarios. Just because she says that's what happened doesn't mean that's what happened! But, all prosecutors have is RB's story and if that's all they have, that's all they have. So far, evidence such as the weights, duffle bag and RB's story points to McCarthy and if he can't come up with a good and reasonable defense he's going to take the fall. A non-tainted jury will only hear and see the evidence presented, not base a verdict on a hunch, they are instructed to do just that. Period.

RB's lies are transparent and a jury will see through that diminishing her credibility right off the bat which may be MCCarthy's best hope. And he better hope if he is innocent that he has a damn good attorney!

Thanks for the links and twitters everyone!

I do think MM has a good attorney. It chapped my behind that RB was allowed to "hide" in court with her hair covering her face and her attorney soothing her and cooing in her ear so she didn't have to listen to "her" story about what happened to Bella. I do believe the charges should be reversed and MM should be an accessory after the fact, and RB should be charged with murder.

To me, it just doesn't jive that the weights might have already been in MM's duffle bag. I think he should say he saw RB strike Bella and that he just helped RB after the fact. I believe neighbors, maybe even his friends, whomever RB's attorney calls as witnesses, are going to say he was mostly living with RB. I believe his friends are the ones who witnessed RB and MM lock Bella in a closet.

Neither one is looking at near enough time for killing this precious child. It doesn't make sense. The two monster predators who abducted the little Amish sisters were sentenced to hundreds of years. Why can't MM and RB get the same? Even in death, Bella is not receiving justice. I think these 2 are looking for a plea deal. Disgusting! Maybe they will receive what's coming to them in prison.....
