I do not understand what the holdup is with Bond. Did the judge allow her to wave her next court appearance? Where's her lawyer? Is she getting her medication? Can't take the other prisoners jeers of "baby killer"? What about Bella?

Mother of Bella Bond Set to Stand Trial in December

Rachelle Bond did not appear in court Thursday, as her appearance was waived. Her trial is now scheduled to begin on Dec. 1. A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for July 12. The deadline for filing motions is in late April.

Delay, delay, delay. Guess Ms. Bassil is hoping our memories will fade. Honestly, I don't think she's going to dig up much on McCarthy, whilst Mr. Shapiro has a gold mine on Bond.

The attorney for Michael McCarthy, the man accused of killing Bella Bond, on Monday ripped into the mother of the dead two-year-old saying Rachelle Bond’s claims about his client were “unbelievable.”

Jonathan Shapiro, McCarthy’s attorney, said Rachelle Bond was “far more likely to have killed Bella” than McCarthy, and had an “insatiable drug addiction.”

He called the state’s case against McCarthy “weak” because it depended on Bond’s "uncorroborated" claims. Rachelle Bond’s statements were aimed at covering up “her own guilt in this matter,” Shapiro said at McCarthy’s arraignment at Suffolk Superior Court.

Bond has also claimed that she was held hostage by McCarthy after he allegedly murdered Bella.

“That’s ridiculous,” Shapiro said, since she had the only keys to the Dorchester apartment and was “completely free” to come and go.

At one point, Bond was also in court alone on a housing matter, and could have fled then, Shapiro charged.

Everything Bond says about being a hostage is a “complete lie,” Shapiro said.
