The Dedham Police Department has issued an alert for a missing woman who is considered to be endangered.

Police say 31-year-old Brittany Stivaletta, who goes by "Brit," was last seen in the area of Massachusetts Avenue in Boston on Tuesday, Feb. 23.

Stivaletta is described by police as a white woman with dirty blonde hair and brown eyes. She is approximately 5 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs about 120 pounds.

Anyone who has information about Stivaletta's whereabouts is asked to call Dedham police at 781-751-9300 or 781-326-1212.

To be last seen in "the area of Mass Ave" is kind of funny considering what a large area that would be. I'm wondering if it is meant to be a specific area of Mass Ave near the Boston Medical Center?

I wondered if they were referring to the "Mile" myself :/ I hope she is found safe soon.

Wait is that her actual FB page? It says RIP? I don't understand this case. Is she endangered because authorities think she may have harmed herself?
according to her mother it is. IMO

This is just speculation but I think the RIP may be to commemorate a person or persons very close to her who have already passed away.

Is it me or does there seem to be an extraordinary number of women going missing in Massachusetts in the past few years?

Comments at link explain the RIP- Log into Facebook

I never got to the explanation because the comments I saw were disgusting. I clicked out of it. I'd rather not know than read through the heartless, insensitive creeps speculating about her.

Agreed regarding the comments, I choose to disregard those. The key comment was at the very end, regarding the death of her brother. Hope that helps~

Unfortunately there is a high incidence of drug abuse and mental health issues among women of all ages in Massachusetts that contribute to many of these disappearances.

Hmmm, so what contributes to causing that? As far as I know, MA is not a particularly poor state, nor a particularly isolated state, nor a particularly rural state. There are good universities, healthcare, history, education and money there.

None of these things insulate a person from having mental health issues or drug abuse issues, though.

No, but it does mean there is no excuse for the state not to help more. It's not North Dakota or Arkansas. Where is the money going? The women need help. Why is there this epidemic?

A little bit of googling shows that there is no clearcut answer. It turns out that MA has a very bad problem with opioids (much worse than the national average) and, counter to conventional thought about drug users, this is not correlated with economic hardship in any way. The main reasons are thought to be that MA has relatively more fentanyl use than most other places and that major drug trafficking routes pass through New England states.

Data also indicates that (speaking only to drug use issues, not the separate one of mental health, though that's also likely true), everything is getting worse during the pandemic:

Speaking specifically about Boston-area people who may need drug treatment, a lot of treatment centers closed right before the pandemic started, such as the one at Long Island in Quincy.

Unless there is a direct correlation between drug use and the disappearance of these women, I think this is a red herring.

I think it is within the TOS to look at the social media page of a victim or missing person, no? She has things about recovery posted on her profiles, both Facebook and Instagram. I think it is worth discussing in a sensitive and non-victim blaming way as it pertains to her potential risks.

People who live in the greater Boston area understand what is implied by the place she was last seen IMO and it's a really dangerous situation.
