TAUNTON — Child abuser Bryan M. James, 37, was sentenced to 12-15 years in prison this afternoon following his conviction last week on charges he badly injured his girlfriend's then-3-year-old daughter, leaving her permanently disfigured.
Superior Court Judge Barbara Dortch-Okara said she based the prison term on sentencing guidelines that “didn't do justice to what was an egregious act.”...
James has already served 2½ years in prison while awaiting trial, meaning he will be eligible for parole in 2019.
James was convicted Friday of three counts of assault and battery on a child causing substantial injury and one count of simple assault and battery. He was acquitted of one count of mayhem.
