The article above, which is now unfortunately behind a paywall, indicated it was linked to a Poughkeepsie area motorcycle club: <modsnip: broken link>

More info on the medallion here: <modsnip: broken link>

Quote from the police department letter:

The medallion is believed to be connected to a motorcycle club based out of Poughkeepsie, New
York. The motorcycle club, which was conencted to a store on Church Street in Poughkeepsie,
gave the medallion to all of its members. The medallion was made in either 1970 or 1972 and
1,500 were produced. The large quanity produced indicates that the motorcycle club was very
active during the 1970s. We believe that the victim was a member of the motocycle club.

Yes, I am.
Unfortunately, the Globe doesn't have a way to gift an article, like the Washington Post does. :(

Looks like we could be seeing an announcement soon of new developments in this case. Good news!

Excerpt from article in post #28. Thank you @Keane.

Burlington police say they are working with the Middlesex district attorney office’s cold case unit and may soon make an announcement about a new development in the case.
