Next witness is Linda Proctor, a registered nurse @TuftsMedicalCtr. She works in the surgical care unit.
Proctor says on May 6, 2019 Teixeira was her patient. She said he had already arrived when she started her shift.
Proctor says Teixeira was at @TuftsMedicalCtr from May 5th to May 12, 2017.
Proctor says Teixeira had gunshot wounds to his right thigh, left buttocks and a tissue injury on his left middle finger.
When Proctor first saw Teixeira she says he was sedated, on a ventilator and vitals were stable.
Proctor says when they removed Teixeira’s breathing tube, he complained of pain. She says she administered a low dose of fentanyl.
She says a toxicology screen was done on Teixeira when he came in and no drugs/alcohol were detected.
Proctor says Teixeira was oriented, a little sleepy but cooperative.
The prosecutor asks Proctor if the answers Teixeira have to her questions make sense. She answers yes.
At 11am on May 6, 2017 Proctor says 2 plain clothes @bostonpolice officers came to talk to Teixeira. She said there were uniformed officers guarding the room - one at door, one near bed.
The prosecutor asks if on Teixeira’s medical chart did she mark his mental status. Proctor looks and said she noted he was aware of surroundings, awake and alert. As for notes on hallucinations or agitation, Proctor says she wrote “no obvious abnormality”.
Now defense attorney is cross examining Proctor. He asks her if during Teixeira’s surgery he “was out”. She says yes, there’s usually general anesthesia.
Sack asks if when Teixeira came to was he was obsessed with the bullet in him. Proctor says “he did have questions about that”.
Proctor has testified that she increased fentanyl dose because Teixeira was in pain. Sack asks was he constantly complaining of pain. Proctor says he wasn’t completely painless.
Sack continues to ask Proctor about Teixeira’s pain, complaints and behavior. Then wraps up
Next up is Sgt. Det. Michael Devane from @bostonpolice. He was the lead investigator in the homicides of Bolanos and Field.
Devane says he directed 2 detectives to go to @TuftsMedicalCtr where Teixeira was taken.
Devane says he sent one detective to police headquarters to conduct interviews.
Devane says the following morning - May 6, 2017, he went with a detective to @TuftsMedicalCtr to interview Teixeira.
Devane says he conducted an hour and a half interview with Teixeira in his hospital event. Teixeira had not yet been charged with the murders.
Devane says Teixeira’s hands were restrained. The Sgt says he identified himself and gave him 2 forms - arraignment waiver and Miranda rights.
Devane says he read the forms and Teixeira nodded his head. Devane says it’s all recorded.
Prosecutor asks Devane to describe Teixeira’s demeanor that day. Devane says he was quiet, subdued, understood them and was not confused.
Prosecutor John Pappas is now playing audio recording of interview with Teixeira. Jurors are given a transcript of it.
