hmmm sounds like may be some confusion about if they ought to have shot at him

they are waffling all over the place about if he shot at them (Yes then no)

then the description now is it was a very dark hallway

now there is he had a BB gun in another bag

there all over the place

now saying he had nothing in his hand ??

in this one it sounds like they knew the exact location of where the problem was

Can you imagine how scary this was for the friend to get a message like that and then not know anything for a while

According to the latest Boston Globe article, which was posted minutes ago, authorities believe the killer previously "worked for a security firm at the South Boston condo complex."

https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2017/05/08/man-charged-with-murdering-two-doctors-south-boston-expected-appear-before-judge/cCSqIJK5XQPJKqfjToi9kL/story.html

So, the cops must have info to the effect that Teixeira's security experience was more extensive than that indicated on his LinkedIn.com resume.

Not to crow, but this latest info reinforces my hunch that the doctors did not know Teixeira. I'm increasingly inclined to believe that their security info was stolen by service personnel, probably by Teixeira himself at a prior point in time.

I am curious as to how long Dr. Field had lived in or owned his penthouse. Did he live there when perp was employed at the building?

If the keys were still in the door, it seems that one of the victims must have been forced to open the door and then he has pushed them inside and closed the door behind them forgetting about the keys, or not needing them anymore or intending collect them when he was leaving.

I do know that 911 calls in Massachusetts go directly to the State Police, however, (someone correct me if I am wrong) I believe GPS is used to then track the phone.
Does your name/ address show up using your cell phone, or your landline?
I don't see the point if it does, using your cell.. If you are out shopping, 20 miles away for example, and you dial 911, LE would go to your house.
What if these doctors were issued cell phones from the Hospital in the Hospitals name? Would the police drive to the Hospital if they dialed 911?
The same applies here in Mass, that if you hang up, they call back, and if you don't respond, they will show up.

Good questions. I am talking about my cell phone, haven' t had a landline for years, therefore have no idea how they work.

The companies that I and others have worked for who issued company phones, they were always in our names. The bill/account was the company's and we never saw a bill. Some companies will reimburse you through an expense report for your own phone. When the phone was issued to me by a company, they had all the numbers of that particular phone in their records, and I signed a form upon receiving it. I doubt the doctors phones were in someone else's name.

In my city, my location comes up on a map like a GPS, so the dispatcher would know it was not my home.

Also, if I am out of the city's jurisdiction, whatever area I am in will pick up the 911 call. I know this because my phone did a pocket call when I was in a small town about 40 minutes away. :blushing:

If one must have a key to operate the elevator, would the concierge/security guard on duty have a master key?

My thinking is if a resident needed help getting their luggage downstairs, how would the concierge get upstairs to that apartment? Having never lived in this type building, I have no personal knowledge.

Does 911 accept texts?

According to this 2014 link, some areas in Boston accept 911 texts and more areas of MA were expected.
https://www.boston.com/news/national-news/2014/05/15/you-can-now-text-911-in-some-places

Whether the Dr. Fields knew about this or had enough confidence to use it is unknown. He may have been able to text a shorter text to his friend than to 911, which requires you to give your location.

This is a nationwide program. My rural Oregon county and the one next to us got on board this month. Calls are still preferred. The motto is "Call if you can. Text if you can't."

This sounds personal to me, the cutting of pictures, the retribution writing on the wall, etc. What I dont understand is Richard Field sending a text message. What was the killer doing during that time? Why not run out and either scream or pull the fire alarm or call 911 who would come to the apartment even if someone(the killer) had hung up....

As to how the killer got upstairs is really secondary as it is known he was there

It cost a lot of money to maintain an extravagant life style, penthouse, travel, jewellery etc.. maybe they did a little "business" on the side and they did not keep their end of the bargain.....

I have been reading a lot of speculation with no basis that sounds a lot like victim blaming in this thread all day. These people were brutally murdered and have family and friends suffering. Please think of that,if something more comes out then ok but for know it is made up.

i have friends who live in this situation. The conciege/ security guard has access to lifts and hallways but not to the front doors of the apartments.hh If the residents need help to get luggage down, they park it outside their apartment. to be picked up in the hall/

Wow. This is interesting and could tie back to the earlier possibility stated of "entitlement". If he had a grudge against his former employer, the security company, maybe this was his way of saying screw you. His ability to by pass it (the security) was in his mind his "one up" on them. The retribution on the wall could have been in some way towards the company or the perceived "rich people" that pay for the security service.

It seems way out there, but who knows.

BBM
This seems way out there too, but after you and OP had mentioned "entitlement", I got to thinking about where he was from. He came here from one of the poorest regions of the world. While being poor is no excuse for murdering someone, I did a little reading b/c the region he is from, has been rather disrupted, and in upheaval. Children raised in war, and upheaval, will sometimes have a different view of the world. Still, a person knows right from wrong.

[FONT=&quot]
Because of the upheaval caused by the war for liberation, large numbers of residents migrated to neighboring countries and to Europe.

Recent coup attempts have divided the military, and animosity toward the wealthy may be increasingly directed at Cape Verdeans.

Aristocrats among coastal and Moslem peoples continue to enjoy the privileges of rank. Markers of wealth include business suits, cars, and cell phones.

He came here in his 20s. I wonder how accurate the information from everyculture.com, is, and how, growing up in that time period, affected him, and/or his view of the wealthy (if at all)? Just thinking, out of curiosity. After learning of the falling out with his aunt, it kind of makes me wonder where she is... If he perceived some sort of slight from the wealthy doctors it could have been brewing awhile and just snowballed. I keep coming back to the "words of retribution" that make me think this was directed squarely toward the doctors. Retribution is a punishment inflicted on someone as vengeance for a wrong or criminal act. Then again, maybe he was angry in general, and just picked them that night, to vent his anger. He told his ex-gf that he was not a good person.

Teixeira told his ex-girlfriend that he was “born in Guinea-Bissau and raised in Cape Verde by an aunt, with whom he moved to the Boston area when he was in his 20s… After a falling out with the aunt, he lived in shelters,” The Boston Globe reported.

A West African immigrant who is accused of slashing the throats of two well-respected doctors in South Boston on Friday has a history of bank robberies and was just released from prison in April.

Teixeira, 30, who worked as a security guard, engaged in a firefight with police. The suspect was shot in his stomach, hand and leg, but he did not die. Authorities found a backpack full of jewelry belonging to Bolanos at the scene.

http://mobile.wnd.com/2017/05/immigrant-who-killed-boston-doctors-has-bank-robbing-rapsheet/

Their hands were bound, their throats slashed and the walls smeared with blood and a “message of retribution.”

He was originally sentenced to 364 days in prison, but the rest of his sentence was suspended after he served nine months.

“According to what law-enforcement sources are telling me, he is apparently a green-card holder …,” Kuhner said. “The one thing they stress to you when you have a green card is, you’re a ‘permanent resident,’ but it’s not permanent if you’re not law-abiding. In other words, if you break the law, if you commit a crime, your green card should be revoked. Then obviously if your green card is revoked, then ipso facto, you should be deported. Why wasn’t this guy deported?

Really tired of hearing the same story over and over again. Bleeding heart judges letting violent criminals be released early. We need to protect our citizens, first and foremost.

Condolences to the families of these cherished individuals. Judges should be held accountable!

IMHO

Teixeira pleaded guilty in September 2016 to two counts of larceny. During both of the robberies – which took place at the same bank –*the man did not carry a gun, and he passed notes to bank employees demanding money.

I wonder if he was working as a security guard when he robbed the same bank twice, the was fired. He also could have had keys to the condo and elevator as well. Possible the couple recognized him and let him in. Jmo

I am not implying anything but as going thro all your wonderful sleuthing at some level I am thinking there is an absurdity here at some level

shot fired no shots fired

keys in door

keys on floor \

dude at desk called

friend called

These are basic facts that should not have been murked up in the beginning motive hey were all here

but shots fired no shots fired how did LE get this simple stuff so mixed up you know if you were shot at or not

When the police entered the apartment, it was completely dark. They saw Teixeira inside, and already had info to the effect that he was armed. I could easily imagine a scenario in which Teixeira disobeyed the cops' order to freeze. At that point, it's perfectly justified, I think, for the police to have shot Teixeira in the leg, just to incapacitate him. In that split second, the other police possibly perceived the first shot as an indication that Teixeira must have been armed, and that's why they opened fire.

Again, in my view -- given the circumstances -- the cops showed good judgment in choosing to shoot. Keep in mind that Teixeira may have been both homicidal and suicidal, and desirous of getting himself shot down if he couldn't make a clean escape. He could very have lunged at the police, for all we know. And Teixeira was subsequently found in possession of deadly weapons (which he had used to butcher two people at the scene).

That the apartment was completely dark is a key factor here.

Great article, Elley Mae! My sentiments, exactly! How could this man be let out of prison, after only nine months, for robbing a bank, twice?

We need to wake up, people!!! :tantrum:
