Found Deceased MA - Henry Bedard, 15, found murdered, Swampscott, 16 Dec 1974

Butterfly's info checks out so far. I can believe this. HT's birthday was 12/16 and his stepfather was RICO'd, some of the docs and details are online. PP is currently involved in Little League. I think this one puts together all those pieces that don't seem to fit.
what ages were these people?

I think I am wrong about the stepfather dying in 2020… I think that is his step brother because of the closeness in age. HT would have been 15 in 1974.

Well, l guess that IS the stepfather because the obituary says that he was pre-deceased by his son, HT. So there was only 10 years difference in their ages?…I guess so. Sorry for the confusion.

PP's father was a fire fighter in Swampscott for 30 yrs. Small, friendly town. All this time, no one says anything, no one is held accountable.

I was in college the year this happened. I hung out with a lot of people who smoked pot. Most of the students did. No one ever became violent when they got high. Ever. Booze was the only "drug" around back then that might make someone violent.

These people must have gone there angry and ready to harm Henry before they got high. What kind of people are these to commit such a vicious, evil act at the age of 15, then spend the rest of their life refusing to admit what happened? Isn't it bad enough they had to kill Henry? Apparently not, as they felt they needed to make his family and friends suffer all these years.

They may have been doing other drugs. HT definitely had access to cocaine and other drugs. Part of his stepfather's case was about robbing pharmacies.

Yep and PP was highly influenced by HT. The reason they didn't come forward was because of HT's step-father. I now see I wrote Uncle earlier by accident. Some people have experienced recent retaliation because of the anniversary post on the Swampscott Police website. I am really afraid and I don't know enough about how this site works to feel safe.
HT definitely seems like the ring leader. I can see others thinking he was cool and getting sucked in. His stepfather died in September. I'm not sure who is retaliating, but I think you'll be okay as long as you don't post about your relationship to the case/how you know your info.

I wonder if PP or DO could be persuaded to come forward now that both HT and NT are dead. It's like the John McCabe murder.

Yes, exactly like that case. That was such a sad case. People don't believe jealousy among teens can lead to murder but it does.

Well I have followed this case a long time your posts confirm a couple of things I have always maintained. One, it was always more than one person that Henry ran into that day. One to hold or block him while the other hit him with the bat. No way Henry interacts with a kid/guy one to one with a bat. Two, sounds like what happened and who was an open secret. Kids talk. Three, based on the weapon and injuries, this was personal. I thought the chances of Henry randomly coming upon a stranger with a bat was slim to none. Lastly, as much as I believe the police investigated you cannot discount the Townie/Police relationship factor into this investigation. Like the sports term “fake hustle” there was a lot of activity but not much in the way of accomplishment.

Amen. Its disappointing to consider that possibility, but impossible to ignore it. Now let's make sure no one faces pressure for having come forward.

Possible they skipped class or had different hours. It sounds like this was a pre-arranged meeting.

Lynn and Swampscott are right next to each other. They went up there to party, apparently. What I’d like to know is what happened to the “older kids, two brothers and a friend” story. Also someone has posted adamantly that Henry’s murder had nothing to do with money or a girl.

its a very long walk from lynn, (and a long walk home) and a really bad place to meet if your from lynn.

I know the area, it is the worst spot to arrange a meeting, makes no sense to me??? lynn kids would not come to swampscott to party, that just wouldn't happen. and if lynn kids arranged the meeting they picked the worst spot imaginable.

Was the girlfriend the same as the one that try to renew interest in solving the case? Wasn't the house beside of her burned?

Did Henry plan to meet those kids or did he stumble upon them?
