"Those who are around the victim may report items that seem out of place being found in the offenders possession, such as children's clothing, or other items the victim may have had on their person"

Correction this is supposed to say "those who are around the offender"

The quality speaks to the believably or trustworthiness of the writer.

I tend to steer away from podcasts, Tiktok, Youtube true crimers, and sensationalistic true crime writers. I will make exceptions. I am not seeing an extensive body of journalistic reports from this Richard Price. I am mainly seeing one guest column in the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
He was a writer for the local Grafton paper, and he got to know the Piiranean family well over the years as that’s where Holly was from. That is probably what makes his podcast most interesting, the fact you hear directly from Holly’s family. That to me is what makes it worth listening too. He’s not just a random person but he has a direct connection ti her family.

My suggestion would be to give it a listen before judging it. For nothing else hearing directly from family members was worth it.

To add to the last line.. people admit to killing adults all the time, but when it comes to the kids, nobody wants to ever admit they are that evil, especially in prison! (They don't take kindly to child killers, even there)
Perhaps but I recall in other cases admissions coming out in prison for cases involving missing children.

'Investigators in western Massachusetts will hold a DNA swabbing event hoping to find new leads in the cold case murder of Holly Piirainen. The 10-year-old girl left her grandparents' home in 1993 and never returned. Her body was found months later, but no one has ever been charged in her death.

Thursday, Oct. 23, marks 32 years since Holly's remains were found in the woods off Five Bridge Road in Brimfield, Massachusetts, 65 miles southwest of Boston.''

This has the potential to rattle some people! Hope they get a lead.

''Gulluni, to mark the anniversary, announced that his office will, as it has once before, host a forensic investigative genetic genealogy event in Brimfield on Nov. 9. ''

“Any community member is encouraged to take part by providing a simple cheek swab, which could help generate new investigative leads,” his office said. ''
'Gulluni’s office said people who provide a sample “will not only help expand this critical database but will also receive their own full ancestry and family-tree information free of charge, a service that typically costs up to several hundred dollars."

''The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Brimfield Public Safety Complex at 34 Wales Road. ''

The DA's office is getting a lot of traction with this appeal to the public. Fingers crossed they get a big break.

This case is part of my childhood and one I most want to see solved. However, they should have released this photo like 20+ years ago. Everyone and their mother had one of those style tees in the late 80s and early 90s.

This case is like the Amy Mihaljevic for one reason only: The cops released evidence way too late in both cases. Honestly, they need to just put all their cards on the table as it's been 30+ years already.

''Holly’s body was found by hunters in a wooded area off Five Bridge Road in Brimfield on October 23, 1993. The items discovered in the area were seized as evidence by the Massachusetts State Police. Some of those items were recently taken for further forensic testing to expand on previous testing. One item particularly, a white tank top with a blue, purple, and pink colored “Boston” motif on the front is an item of interest in the case. The shirt had no tags or size information on it.''

Does anyone know how close this shirt was to the body? It seems like way too much time has passed. I had a similar style shirt as a kid, but the shirt said CAPE COD. I'm actually only like a 30–40-minute drive away from the site, but I would be too afraid to go alone.
