~ Yes and I would be interested in knowing if the traps were extra weighted, ie; weighted instead of baited with brick or some such.

~ IMO lobster traps are designed so that what goes in can't easily come out,. except for undersized ones that large ones can't fit through. It would be more likely IMO for the body to have been tied to them and weighed down.

And I guess it could be possible that although the remains were not found inside the trap that the pounding surf could have battered the trap open and carried everything together up the beach.

Okay this is a really stupid question I guess but, if her body has never been found, how is believed that she was murdered and put in a suitcase and dumped in the water off NH? Did someone confess to doing it? Is there a thread here for her? (going to look now...)

ETA: okay well, that answers that I'd never heard of Lizzi's case before but this same article also states: "Further down the beach, near the low tide waterline, investigators also carefully examined what appeared to be rope."

Could be nothing... could be something. Ugh.

I followed Lizzie's case. Her body was dumped in the water in Portsmouth NH. I do not know anything about tides, but with this storm that just went through I guess anything is possible. I think of Lizzie every time I go to the beach.

After the truck left the scene, Mendez talked to police for a few minutes before driving off. She did not respond to questions about the investigation. Monahan said the DA’s office will release information today if “the ME has any findings.”

Good to be back with you, WSers. Sounds like the RSO is down in VA. I thought of her as the storm was coming. I hope her son, mom, dad, sister, mate, family and friends find some solace soon and justice thereafter.

It's seems cruel to her family to have to wait to lay her at peace, if it is Jaimee Mendez, in the interest of justice, which seems closer at hand, somehow.

Could he have cast off the pier, north east of the beach?

Update, 11:18 a.m., Thursday:

It was 8:04 a.m., when a woman called police to report finding human remains on King’s Beach.

According to the Swampscott Police Department log, she contacted police and waited for units to arrive across the street.

BBM and welcome back HG! Nothing has been announced yet regarding the identity but I have a feeling it will be soon (hope so for the families sake). Nothing that I can link here but to paraphrase some of the FB chatter it seems the family has not been told by police what all was found on the beach and needless to say they are anxious. It also appears that LE was back on the beach today. Hopefully I can link to that once the news is updated.

And thinking about how her family must feel with loads of snow preventing them from finding their girl. And now, after worrying about that, they have the anxiety of the beach discovery. I just can't imagine the stress they are enduring. Hugs to them, and all those here that advocate for Jaimee.

Unless the remains were dis articulated, it really seems likely that the trap was used as a weight. If we are speculating. Clearly, there are so many ways that this could fit the situation as we understand it, but I am working hard on myself to not jump off the cliff.

Seeing her mom on the beach, that certainty I read into it, I'm not questioning, for now, until her family knows for sure. I wonder if the RSO thinks it is her, his family, his friends, those who had a chance to ask him questions? I wonder if they have security footage going back or anyone's memory of him around there. It's a direction for a lot of questions, if it is Jaimee Mendez.
