MA MA - James W Rogers, 14, Hanson, 18 Oct 1981

Jimmy Rogers is still missing.
My uncle knew Jimmy and his parents. They were very close.
Jimmy spent alot of time at my uncle's house.
At the time of the disappearance there was a red van that was seen by many indiviuals
My family all still live in MA.

Welcome to Websleuths, rg.

My heart goes out to James' parents. It would have been very difficult to search for a missing teenager back in the '80's (still is).

I wish he was listed at NCMEC (missingkids.org) and given a new reconstruction.

The parents looked for him for years and years
RG, thank you for joining this thread and that your uncle knew the family.

I was wondering if you could share any light on some of the questions brought up in the thread. Do you know his parent’s names and their address? Are his parents still alive? Did he have any siblings? Do you know if this is still an active case? Is it being handled by the Plymouth district attorneys office or local police?

his father's name is Lee. His parents divorced and the father remarried. I do believe he was a only child. Case is still active. I'm not sure if the mother is still alive. My mom said the mothers name is Emma. I believe it was my uncle's house he was hitch hiking to. From what my family knows is my uncle could not pick him up

From what i have been told. It was my uncle's house he was hitch hiking to.

This one’s a puzzler. I checked the 1981 calendar, October 18 was a Sunday. I don’t know whether he went to the friends house in the daytime or at night. It said he had a paper route, so not sure whether he delivered daily papers or Sunday as well

This is probably speculation, but I am guessing that he did not come from a large family. There seems to be no siblings or parents championing his case.

I would love to find students who went to Whitman Hansen regional high school between 1979-81 that knew Jimmy.
His parents Emma and Lee searched for him for many years.

My uncle i believe is the home Jimmy was hitch hiking to at the time of the disappearance

I also submitted his case to NamUs over the weekend, but it was deleted as per other attempts, most likely because his case is closed.

The only time I have seen files, on rare occasions, being closed on a still missing person case is when an underaged person, considered by LE to be a runaway, has aged up and become an adult (note: this was in cases from the 90s and earlier). Obviously, this is not the case here as his case was closed in 2004.

I’ll do some research and see if I can come up with an explanation as to whether he is still missing or another reason is responsible for his case being closed.
He is still missing. My uncle was the house he was hitch hiking to at the time of the disappearance
