Wow, what a horrific case, but I'm so glad to read the update that Haleigh has recovered enough that she could testify against her stepfather. I'm curious if the adoptive mother and grandmother's deaths have ever been ruled murder/suicide, or if there's a chance that the stepfather killed them, too? If they really think it was murder/suicide, what was the motive for the adoptive Mom of Haleigh to go and kill her own mother and then herself?

Many prayers to Haleigh that she finds a loving forever home VERY soon.

Her adoptive mother (bio mother's sister) killed herself in a suicide pact with Haleigh's grandmother.

Her bio mother has been blocked from visiting her after she criticized DCF but they say Haleigh has expressed fear of her.

The stepfather's trial is not until October. I hope they videotape Haleigh's testimony because it is not unheard of to slip back into a coma.

the bio mother also wants custody back but they say she is unfit. when the child was young mom had a boyfriend that allegedly sexually abused her and mom allowed her sister to adopt her after that. with the family this little girl got it is a miracle she is not in even worse condition.

eta: bio mom does not think the girl should speak in court. she says it would be emotionally harmful to the girl.

EXACTLY-:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

Haleigh should not have to face this man, whatever his rights are, unless she has an overwhelming need to confront him. She has no one who has been consistently looking out for her, and how dare anyone question her lengthy hospital stay when it is the only place she has been safe in her whole life? jMO.

~snip~

Incidentally, Haleigh’s sister, Samantha Poutre, has given police a new statement about Haleigh’s injury, which put her in a coma. Samantha initially told investigators that Haleigh was practicing a back flip when she hit her head on a basement pipe, according to defense lawyers.

Now, Samantha is saying that Jason Strickland kicked Haleigh down a flight of stairs.

This poor child. :( What she has lived through is a miracle. Many blessings and prayers to her. I too hope she can testify via tape and not have to face that man in court.

From December 2008:

http://www.masslive.com/news/index.ssf/2008/12/strickland_sentenced_to.html

Jason D. Strickland will spend 12 to 15 years in state prison on charges in the child abuse case that left his stepdaughter Haleigh Poutre with a severe brain injury...

A jury on Nov. 26 convicted Strickland in Hampden Superior Court of charges he allowed serious injury to be caused to the then 11-year-old girl in 2005. The defense had argued that Strickland had believed his late wife, Holli A. Strickland, Haleigh's adoptive mother, when she told him the child was self-abusive.

this case disturbed me alot. i see in the first pages here it seems to be the opinion that 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 was trying to keep her alive to save himself a murder charge. and there's probably alot of truth to that.

but i also saw it as CPS trying to kill her to hide their dirty little secrets. obviously she was not 'brain dead' and i dont know what pull they had to get the doctors to say she was, but they are just as disgusting as the animal that hurt her.

IMO

How nice to see a happy ending for such a horrible childhood. It's a shame there are not more wonderful people like her new parents.
