On any given day, as many as hundreds of children in Massachusetts’ welfare system are missing, including 134 foster children as young as 13 whom the state listed as “on the run” as of Feb. 2. Social workers stopped checking on another 13 children recently because their parents were uncooperative, rebuffing caseworkers or moving without leaving a forwarding address.

Yet Olga Roche, the head of the embattled Massachusetts Department of Children and Families, told lawmakers at a hearing last month that she was certain there were no other children in her agency’s care who were in danger or missing like Jeremiah Oliver, the 5-year-old Fitchburg boy who disappeared last year while under the state’s watch.

Apparently, DCF felt the need to 'correct' the information in the earlier article. This one lists 134 teenagers. No mention of younger children (Jeremiah would have been 4 or 5)

How many others are there? IMO this is not a 'crack' these children are falling through, it's a chasm.

Three Charged With Interfering In Jeremiah Oliver Case

FITCHBURG (CBS) — Three people are facing charges of interfering with a criminal investigation in connection with the disappearance of Jeremiah Oliver.

The Worcester County District Attorney’s office said Monday, Christian Sierra, 21, Cailey Thibault, 23, and Ashley M. Cormier, 24, all of Fitchburg, are charged under the Intimidation of a Witness statute.

Christian Sierra is the brother of Alberto Sierra, the boyfriend of Jeremiah Oliver's mother. Investigators claim he denied speaking with his brother, but phone records showed numerous calls made around the time he was being interviewed by investigators.

Christian's girlfriend, Cailey Thibault, is also accused of lying about phone calls and a meeting she had with Alberto and Jeremiah's mother, Elsa Oliver. Court documents allege some of the calls were made on a second phone that she never told investigators about.

Court documents also allege Thibault threatened Jeremiah's mother with violence in the days after his disappearance became public. Investigators allege she threatened to physically harm Elsa Oliver, a woman who came to court with two black eyes.

Cormier, who is close with Oliver, was reportedly by her side when news of Jeremiah's disappearance first went public. She is also accused of lying about phone conversations.

Elsa Oliver is listed as the victim in one of the assault and battery indictments and one of the assault and battery with a dangerous weapon indictments. The alleged victim of the indecent assault and battery on a child is not named in the indictment."

I think Jeremiah's body has been found
A small body has been found today off of Rt 190 in Sterling MA, about 13 miles from where he went missing. Press conference at 2:00.
Investigators were searching there when they found him. Speculation that they were tipped off. The 3 people arrested in conjunction with this case were in court this week...

At noon today, there were more than two dozen police vehicles at the edge of I-190, just south of the Route 12 interchange (exit 6).

A canopy was set up less than 100 yards off the road. I-190 is down to one lane.

District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. is on the scene.
