I found this thread from the family. I don't understand why more hasn't been done.

I do wonder if he just lost his mind and wandered away. I've always considered it possible that this is him.

I did find a little more information on him. His DOB is 3 August 1962. Besides Massachusetts, he appears to have ties to Los Angeles - it appears that he lived there in the 1990s (1992-1998). Maybe he had family in Los Angeles?

I feel like he did something similar to Johatsu---Although it's a japanese term, its a phenomenon as to where people choose to disappear from the public eye and can establish lives without a trace. I have a feeling this could be the case for him, since with Johatsu, you have to essentially leave everything behind from your past life in order to start anew.

At first I thought the huge time gap between when Jianhua called out sick, and when his co-workers requested the wellness check was because of an intervening weekend.

But no, in 2002, July 22 was a Monday, and July 26 was a Friday—literally the start and end of the work week.

So why did his co-workers wait so long? Did Jianhua just say he was really sick and would be out a few days? Did he work part-time and simply wasn't scheduled in the intervening days, so work would have no reason to expect him?

I just get the feeling Jianhua called out in order to stall for time. But maybe knowing more about his work situation would bring more clarity.
