A woman prosecutors claim helped her East Boston beau murder his ex-girlfriend and the son he fathered with her goes to trial this week facing two counts of first-degree murder.

Jessica Lynn Deane, 23, formerly of Brockton, and Jims Beneche, 23, stand accused of being partners in the grisly deaths of Kayla, 21, and Xavier Ravenell, 2, but will be tried separately in Suffolk Superior Court.

Prosecutors believe mother and son were killed in Beneche’s Border Street apartment May 23, 2004, and that Xavier’s remains were stored there in a trash bag for at least a day.

A Suffolk Superior Court jury today held a second defendant responsible for the 2004 murders of a 21-year-old Dorchester woman and her 2-year-old son, and the judge presiding over the case sentenced him to consecutive life terms, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley announced.

Judge Patrick F. Brady granted prosecutors' requests that JIMS BENECHE be sentenced to consecutive life terms, saying that it was "appropriate, given the hideousness of the offense."

Beneche, 23 (D.O.B. 7/21/83), of East Boston was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder for killing his ex-girlfriend, Kayla Ravenell, and the son she bore him, Xavier Ravenell, in his Border Street apartment in the early morning hours of May 23, 2004. Beneche was charged as a joint venturer with his new girlfriend, 23-year-old JESSICA LYNN DEANE, who was convicted on Feb. 15 following her separate trial.

BOSTON (WBZ) ― A 23-year-old woman was found guilty Thursday of helping her boyfriend kill his ex-girlfriend and their 2-year-old son.

Jessica Deane was sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison after a jury convicted her in Suffolk Superior Court of two counts of first-degree murder in the May 23, 2004, deaths of Kayla and Xavier Ravenell.
