Go with your gut ! Sometimes valuable time is lost when a person "disappears " and LE doesn't see what family or friends do as unusual or out of character.
If you can check places locally that KQ frequented or enjoyed taking her pup, talk to everyone you can about last time they spoke to her or saw her . Sometimes it's frustrating but that's a good place to start .
I wish you well with your search, I don't know the area but you can make a list and start there . Praying that you are successful and she's found safe and soon .

Dear Sigmon757, My heart aches for you, this is a terrible feeling to have a loved one missing. My first thought is often LE believes a person is willingly missing when they have left their cell behind so they are not tracked. This is not always the case and important avenues are not explored in a timely fashion. Some things jump out at me. She has never blown off work, very conscientious employee, so that doesn't add up. She took her dog with her, temperatures are low and you wouldn't leave your little dog in the car alone unless it was running for heat. So I don't think she went far willingly anywhere away from her car. She left her cell, probably remembered she left at work and wasn't flustered, knew she would pick it up next time at work. Is work a bit of a drive from her apartment also? Another huge red flag, she was at an ATM when she was last seen. This is huge to me. Especially that time of night. VERY WORRISOME. I am a woman and I would be very hesitant to go to an ATM even well lit at 1 a.m. If I was LE, I would have a HUGE issue with this. I hope they are checking any nearby cameras. I hope that you find your friend soon. So many hugs your way.

Thank you so so much- she nannies for three different families I’m not sure which one she left her phone at- they aren’t too far away from my understanding- but Kayla wouldn’t even care if she owned a tv- so she’s not one that can’t handle being away from her phone- but if she had to work on Thursday I could see her not going to pick it up until Friday. I’ve never had trouble reaching her so to not have her phone in her possession is out of character. Great point on her dog though, that is her LIFE. She certainly would never leave him in the car! The family has asked us to keep sharing until she is actually found.

She seems like a pretty responsible person, so something has knocked her for a loop- made her change her behavior quickly.

I guess I didn’t realize the ATM video capture was at 1am. Maybe she’s intentionally going in the middle of the night so she won’t be seen... meaning she’s not ready to be found or she’s afraid of somebody. And true - she can’t be sleeping in her car unless she’s got a heavy duty sleeping bag or two. She’s probably paying cash at a cheap hotel explaining the need for cash.

Sigmon757, Do you know if her doggie takes any medications? Most dog lovers take the very best care of their fur babies and would never forget a med. That would be a huge red flag also. Has LE run her credit cards???? Is that why they caught her on the video? What breed of doggie is her dog, is he/she a mix?Has LE checked for any dogs found? Also her dog would need dog food. Does he/she eat special dog food? Also, know the area a bit from travel, Dedham is right off a major interchange on Rt. 95. Isn't that a toll road? There are other toll roads right there. Have they checked for her plate?... also, there is a forested area by Dedham with a long road in. Has LE checked that area or toll cameras toward Brockton or Quincy if she continued traveling in the eastern direction? Also, her age is a major red flag to me. She is 35. If she never had any other behavior similar to this, I would really push LE to take this as seriously as they could.

Are we sure it was KQ behind the wheel at the ATM? Was there anyone else in the vehicle with her or in the back seat?

If she had money or credit cards, she could be staying at motels or decided to travel by car a bit with what she had in her back, picking up what she needs along the way.

I’m hoping she just needed a break. As irresponsible as that sounds for her to do and against what it sounds like she would do, I hope that’s what she’s done. IYKWIM?

I see her dog's name is Jimmy. He is so cute. Also, Kayla looks so young for her age! I have been looking for any found dogs like hers....I hope she is still with him.

Is it known whether she took just a small amount from her ATM account or whether she took the maximum ? The amount could indicate whether she was forced to withdraw or just needed cash to carry her over.

Police on Monday were continuing their search for a Franklin woman reported missing over the weekend.

The Franklin Police Department put out a statement late Sunday seeking the public’s help finding 35-year-old Kayla Quagan, who was reported missing on Saturday, noting “at this time this is just a check for well being.”
UPDATED: Police continuing search for missing Franklin woman. Police say 'there is no indication that she remains out of contact other than by her own choice'

“At this time the investigation indicated that Quagan remains in the area, and has been seen on video,” according to a statement released at 4:05 p.m. on Monday by the police. “The Franklin Police remain committed to ensuring Quagan’s well being, however at this time there is no indication that she remains out of contact other than by her own choice.”

Quagan was last seen in person with her small dog, named Jimmy, on Friday morning, according to police.

Police Sgt. Brian Johnson on Monday afternoon said she was last seen at her Franklin apartment by her roommate, and that she left in her car.

Quagan’s vehicle is a 2009 gray Honda with a Massachusetts license plate, with the number 8CJ415.

Johnson Monday afternoon said detectives were actively working on the search, interviewing family and friends and surveying social media.

The investigation, he said, was “a little bit hampered by the fact she doesn’t have her cell phone.” He noted when someone has their cell phone it can be easier to locate them.

The phone, he said, was given over to police, but they have been unable to access it in search of potential clues because it is locked.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Quagan is asked to call the Franklin Police Department at 508-528-1212.

Quagan has been entered into the national missing person’s database. Any agency with contact with her, or with the vehicle, is asked to contact Franklin Police.

OK, so they're taking it seriously which is good. And being entered into the database means any department (anyhere in the country) who runs her plate will get a 'hit' showing the vehicle is associated with a missing person. They'll stop and speak to her if that happens, which is good.

I do hope that she's located, if it's fact that she got cash from an ATM that's a great sign. Sometimes people are struggling more than we realize, and she might just need a few days to herself. (As upsetting as that is for family and friends, I totally sympathize with that!)

Does anyone know her PCP/Gyn? Family might call them and let them know she's missing in case she reaches out to them for medication, or a refill, etc.

Jimmy is a Welsh Terrier- she does feed him special food- he is 8/9 so he may be on medicine but if so I’m unsure. The gas station ATM was at 10:30am yesterday on Staughton. I’m unsure where exactly the 1am sighting was at. This has all been surveillance. I am unsure as to if they know the amount she took out. I have talked to her sister and at least what I am being told is that this was very sudden and nothing happened prior to her leaving Friday morning.

They could not see if anyone was in her car or with her unfortunately.

Having her dog with her may make it difficult for her to go to a motel or hotel, on the other hand it may make it easier for searchers to narrow the search down to those motels that allow dogs.

@Sigmon757

I've been reading the posts from the Franklin PD website about Kayla's disappearance.
Kayla's roommate appears to be a kind person and is updating information.
The roommate, however, has only known Kayla for "6 weeks" and the roommate stated that Kayla is "sick."

JMO
The family and/or close friends should strongly consider hiring an experienced and ethical PI to locate Kayla so those who know her best can ascertain her medical status and (hopefully) discover what triggered this extreme change in behavior.

If Jimmy needs special dog food, I would go to the Pet Smart and Petco in those areas she was seen with her pic and her dog's pic if that's where she gets his special food. Maybe someone will have spotted her there. You are a great friend for looking for her. Keep your hopes up.

I thought for sure she'd be spotted today as we returned to the flow of a work week and that somebody would recognize her face, her car (MA 8CJ415) or the dog. I wonder if she has a speed pass for tolls so they could track her that way. I'm not convinced she disappeared on her own and like others, I'm worried about someone forcing her to go to the ATM - we've seen that before.
Also - does she have an iPad or laptop with her - I wonder if she knows she is missed?

I’m sorry, I scrolled through this thread pretty fast, so if this has already been said forgive me.

The ATM is not a good sign to me. My first reaction is someone forced her to get money. If she hasn’t been using her card anywhere else and wanted to stay hidden - why go to an ATM?

From what I’ve read Kayla has very good work ethic and is responsible. Erratic behavior usually shows before age 35, and I think we’d have heard about any erratic behavior leading up to this, which we haven’t (or at least I haven’t)

Kayla has been missing 5 days. She’s a very pretty girl. This isn’t a clearing her head for 24 hours kind of thing, I think something not good has happened. MOO

Yes, I am worried about those same exact red flags and I HOPE that LE has not decided that she left her phone on purpose to not be tracked. They would lose valuable time when time is of the essence. Biggest red flag, she is missing and in such a heavily settled area, NO ONE has spotted her or her dog, except for 1 a.m. at an ATM. I can't walk down two roads with my pup without any passerby stopping me and trying to pet or chat with my dog, like I am second class citizen to the adored one at the end of the leash. Does LE have, at the minimum, at least a group of dedicated LE working full time on this missing woman and her Jimmy as if she was their own sister or daughter gone missing.

Also I hope that LE has not missed the important angle that if she does not have her phone, she cannot call for help if she needed it. Where are Kayla and Jimmy and her car???
