Maybe he never told her he was a felon, although, one could easily google search him and see that he hid in a closet and tried to stab some dude.

It’s possible she knew but I’m not going to do any victim bashing here.

Even though 23-year-old Mary Anderson was an adult and had been out of touch for less than a day, Chief Jim Babu said the mother’s account made it clear the situation was serious.

“The totality of the circumstances,” Babu said, led him to start a search at once. Among those circumstances were that Mary Anderson’s former boyfriend, 34-year-old Matthew Davis of Fitchburg, had made threats against her and had a violent criminal record.

The outcome of the search was not to be what everyone hoped for. “You never think that somebody’s not going to come home,” Babu said. “It was devastating.”

It is possible, I agree with you.

With her meeting him at a young age, she may not have fully grasped the severity of the situation or he may have had her convinced that it “wasn’t like that”. I know this from experience - when I was 19 I met and married a man who had SEVEN felonies. He had me totally fooled and convinced that HE was the victim. Some of us are sadly more easily deceived than others — not saying that’s necessarily the case with sweet Mary, but just throwing it out there that it could and does happen.

Sounds like she is the one who broke it off according to moms statement. Perhaps she started to see what he was really about, and he didn’t like that he no longer had her fooled. The sad part is, we will likely never know the full story

Thanks! So unfortunately true. It has taken me many years to heal, but I’m grateful I had the opportunity to heal. Sad that Mary had that taken from her.

Officers confronted him in nearby woods. One officer yelled that Davis had a knife. They ordered him 10 times to drop the knife but he refused, according to the release. After one officer asked Davis “Why did you kill her?” he then ran out from behind a tree with the knife and charged downhill toward two officers, they said.

All three officers fired their weapons.
